What books do I need?

AsianLan 125

PolSci 160

Soc 100

Stats 350

http://umichigan.bkstore.com/

hey i'm taking polsci 160 as well...the gsi sent out an e-mail saying what book we needed. but otherwise just look at the union bookstore link dilksy gave.

I don't understand step 4 of the order process on the Union Bookstore website.
it has a list of things 016/staff, 011/ staff, 002 staff, etc. What the heck is that? Someone please explain; why is purchasing books so hard for Michigan.

Your section number.

Because people are afraid to pick up a phone these days.

how do you figure out your section number? Is it listed on your course schedule?

Wolverine Access

Thanks, but what if the bookstore doesn't have my session number? Does that mean that I'm too late and screwed or that they just haven't received that shipment yet? And about how long does it take get your books.

It means your teacher for the section hasn't submitted the list of required books yet. You can pre-order them to reserve a copy, I believe.

There really aren't many classes where different sections use different books. The only case I can think of is when each section of a course covers a different topic. As an example, Amcult 205 is Topics in American history, but my section 009 is specifically College Athletics in America, and Section 001 has a different topic. All of the classes you have will use the same books no matter what section you're in, so just pick any section.

If it's one of those huge classes with a lecture and discussion, make sure you're looking at the lecture section number, not the discussion section number. That's how it was for my psych class, if I look under sec 38 (my discussion) there's nothing, but when you go to sec 30 (lecture) you get the list of required books... did that make sense?

yeah, thanks. But I guess the teacher hasn't decided what books they're gonna use because a lot of my classes are still listed as "Currently no textbook information"

Soc 100 is the only one of those 4 classes without a textbook listed.

in that case, check the course description in the course guide (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/cg), check if your class has the syllabus uploaded on ctools, sometimes the books will be listed there (go to ctools.umich.edu, click log in, then you should see your classes on that blueish bar, click on the class you want, click resources, and check if there's a syllabus), and, if all else fails, email the prof. If you're planning to buy online, you really need to act soon, since you need to leave time for shipping, and classes start next week... if you plan to get everything from the bookstore, you're probably fine.

In that case...

about how long does it take to ship books. I live in Kentucky which is about
6-7 hour drive to Ann Arbor

Where is the closet bookstore to the Michigan Union or West Quad?

Thanks again.

Just have stuff shipped to the dorm.

And once again, http://umichigan.bkstore.com/

Oh, it's in the Union. Nice. Last question, How would I list the shipping address?
Since, it's a dorm. Do I write my name down on the address or my room number?
Sorry, I'm kinda new to this.

Name
Dorm
room # and house
dorm's address

How do most people enter dorm addresses on websites? Usually they only give you two street address lines maximum. So for me, could I leave the Bursley Hall line out and still be sure it gets there? What else is at 1931 Duffield anyway? Or do most just cram the house and hall on the same line?

You can just combine 2 and 3 with a comma. It probably doesn't matter though.
