What can you tell me about Cal State Chico, San Diego State, and San Jose?

I can’t visit any of these schools due to the distance.

I’ve already visited Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Long Beach, so here’s what I think of them:

I loved Fullerton’s campus. It’s a bit big, but I enjoy the vibe I got from being at the campus. There seems like there’s a lot going on and the people there are super nice (about three different people knew I was a visitor and they were happy to show me around). It felt like I was in a city with all the tall buildings around the school.

Meanwhile, although I only visited Long Beach briefly, I didn’t like it as much. The campus is huge. Everything’s spaced out and it seems like the majority of it is roads, parking lots, and empty fields of grass. Walking around campus without a car would be inconvenient in the hot CA weather. I visited the biology and music department and the conditions seemed poor. (tiles falling from ceilings, dimly lit halls). I didn’t see the entire campus though, so maybe I’m wrong.

Anyways, how is the campus, student life, and the local area at SDSU, SJSU, and CSU Chico? How similar or different are they from CSUF and CSULB?

Here is a link to a virtual tour of SDSU: http://arweb.sdsu.edu/es/virtualtour/

SDSU is a very vibrant and beautiful campus. Surrounded by the city, mission architecture influenced with a mix of old and new buildings. Very friendly campus and Greek life is evident (at least for my son’s circle of friends). Huge school spirit especially for the Basketball team. Many activities on campus along with an outdoor concert theatre and indoor concerts/events at Viejas arena. Less a commuter school than CSUF but if you liked the vibe at CSUF, I think you will like SDSU.

Are you from OOS?

Thanks, Gumbymom!

No, I’m in state. I live within driving distance from CSUF and CSULB.
