My school does not offer as many AP classes as I wished, I mean most of them are in the Sciences, which oh great just happen to be my worst subject. I'm more an English/Literature junkie.

Question. If I am pretty sure my GPA is gonna be 3.7 by the end of Sophomore year(I know, it is so low because my Freshman year was...disaster first semester), and I plan on raising it to at LEAST a 4.0 and am pretty sure I can, the only thing standing in my way may be Physics, what do you think my chances are of getting into Oberlin, Ohio? That and Denison, Kenyon, Grinnel?

PS HEY this is my first post!!! Glad to be here! You all inspire me to work so much harder!
My initial dream was Vassar...but my dad ruled out the East coast. :(

next year I will be a junior and in my first real year of the I.B program. Well here's my classes
First Semester
1. A.P. English 12
2. A.P. Psychology
3. A.P./I.B. Economics
4. A.P./I.B. Geography
5. I.B. Math Methods
6. Honors Physics
7. U.S. Government/ Politics
8. Athletics (for wrestling)
Second half of school I have the same schedule except that insead of government I have I.B. theory of knowledge (TOK)

Forgive me, but what exactly does an "IB" class mean? I have never heard of them, and we don't have them at my school...enlighten me anyone?

Good luck with Oberlin - it's soooo expensive. But, they have an awesome English program and the people are pretty cool - if you like the out there kids that people in high school are kinda like "whoa, are they alright?" haha. Everyone I have met are really nice and really interesting. good luck :)

Ah, as for my classes:
P.E. over the summer...big 'ol woot. (not. Why can't horseback riding and dressage circuit count for that? but noooooo)

Senior Year (woot, woot '06!)
AP English Lit.

Women in Literature (1 sem) - I'm a budding feminist, what can I say?
AP Euro History
Comparitive Religion (1 sem.)

Personal Financial Management (1 sem.)
Prep for College Life (1 sem.) - (I need it since I can't even do laundry and the microwave and I have issues 90% of the time)

I will be a junior in IB, too. So here it goes;

IB English HL
IB History of Europe HL
IB Math Methods
IB Chem HL
IB Spanish (HL or SL dunno yet)
IB Psychology
Adv. Accounting
ToK
and maybe ap economics as an individual study which will still go on my transcript but is not weighed..I wonder is it worthed then?

ya and 11 AP's means 11 AP Classes...

Thats crazy I.B. chemistry i took honors chem as a freshman. Biggest mistake of my life. I'm really looking forward to A.P. psychology though sounds interesting. I took I.B. math because it's a slacker math class(i suck at math) and A.P. english should be cool. Are your I.B. classes strictly I.B. or can you take the AP test also?

current sophomore; rising junior.

IB English
IB History of the Americas
IB Math HL
IB French
IB Physics
IB Social Anthropology
Theory of Knowledge

in addition, i'm planning to take a course at George Mason University-- which is literally right down the street. i'll most likely take "intro to social science research" or "the society and the individual"... or a course modern social problems, if the university allows me to skip basic sociology, which i took this year as a high school course. yes, i love social science. planning to take IB world religions and IB psych as a senior. :]
