What classes in school help prepare you for the SAT?

Hi everyone. I'm currently a sophomore in highschool and I'm planning to take the SAT next year, and I want to hear about what classes you guys took during your highschool years (such as ap lang, apush, or ap calc) that helped somewhat in preparing for the SAT. Thanks beforehand :)

The classes that will help you most for the SAT are Algebra 2, Geometry, English, obviously, but AP English Language might help a bit more with the Essay, and that’s pretty much it. I don’t know if AP Literature would help with Critical Reading, probably not that much.

Thanks for replying!

For me, AP English helped negligibly, but most of reading/writing was based on my previous vocabulary, knowledge of English grammar, and comprehension. I can’t say any other AP classes helped significantly for the SAT or ACT.

However for me, I did a lot of contest math in middle and high school (MATHCOUNTS, AMC/AIME, etc.) and was able to score 800’s on math pretty consistently. Of course, I did such contests because I enjoyed them, not to prepare for the SAT.

For years I told my son that Latin was going to be a big help with the SAT. He made it through three years, not enjoying a minute of it, and neither of us is convinced that it helped at all.
