What classes should I sign up for?

I'm a junior and I'm having trouble deciding which classes to take next year, that would look good to colleges and programs I want to go into. I'm considering several different kinds of colleges, but all 4 year colleges, some big, some small, and some of them are liberal arts colleges. I've taken mostly academic courses, including AP classes. Is it worth taking art classes next year?

I may decide to be a film major in college, and some of the college's programs require an art portfolio. The film class at my school sucks, and there is only drawing, painting, and art history left of the art classes, since the other ones got taken away this year. So I was thinking about doing drawing so I can make an art portfolio. I would also take lots of photos for the art projects which could be used.

Or I could take spanish 4, which would give me an advantage since I would have taken 4 years of a foreign language. I have 3 now though.

All my other classes for next year are AP and DC.

I could probably get into a college that just lets you take certain courses to fulfill the requirements to get into the film program, or I could make my own portfolio outside of classes next year, or I could take art classes in college and make a portfolio that way.

I also worry about how hard it would be to remember to do art projects with all my other homework.

What do you think?

If you need to put together a portfolio, I would suggest taking AP Studio Art (ask your school if you can do this as an independent study with your favorite art teacher if they don’t offer the class regularly).
4 years of a language does look good for top colleges, but if you are focusing on art and need to choose between a language class and an art class, I would think the art class should win out.
What type of schools are you shooting for? If you’re trying to get into NYU’s Tisch or something of that sort, you have to have a solid application outside of the arts, plus a demonstrable interest/talent in the arts, to get in, so make sure you don’t let it appear that everything else fell by the wayside so you could focus solely on arts, unless of course you’re the next Kurosawa or Scorsese, in which case do whatever you want.
