The title basically says it but what classes in high school should I take to become a data science or stats or social analysis major in college? Which classes are useful and which classes will colleges look for and pay special attention to? Any classes to maybe get a headstart? FYI: I’ve taken AP Stats and Calc.
Take the highest level of math available to you. If you have completed AP calculus BC, see if you can take multivariable calculus and linear algebra at a local college. A calculus-based introductory statistics course may also be helpful in determining your interest in the subject.
Computer science courses will also be helpful, since data scientists and statisticians will have to have some knowledge of computing in their work.
Beyond the math, statistics, and computer science, consider also course work in subjects where statistics is often applied, such as social sciences and natural sciences.
