i can't attend Calso because i have finals on june11 and i will go back to my country on june 18, i am a math major, i try to call berkeley LS advising, they don't allow me to make an appointment, instead, they told me to go to calso which i can't make it. i am wondering how can i register for classes and what classes to take for the first semester?

Well, no one here can really tell you what classes to take your first semester. That is what major advising is for, I'd advise going to the TOOLS website and taking the online counseling. You have to email the Cal counseling department and then they'll email you a registration date.

Have you asked your Professors if you can take finals earlier or later in order to attend the orientation?

Right, none of us can really advise you on which classes to take, but you do really need to send a note to Cal stating why you can't attend CalSO. That would be the first step and you have a few more days to do it.

From the CalSO website:

If you can't attend CalSO, you need to submit a "can't attend" explanation by June 13 in order to receive enrollment information. Use the log on button below.

Welcome to CalSO!

Other than that, if you are in the Letters & Sciences division, use TOOLS for online advising, look through the class schedule, and review your major's website for any additional information about required classes, etc.

thanks, thats really helpful, do we must take a class called "american cultures"?
whats this class about?

where are the TOOLS website? can you please post it?

If you want to graduate, you better take an "american cultures" class.

You should log on to your MyBerkeleyApplication website. There's a step-by-step checklist which will guide you through everything you need to do.

Anyone know which class is the easiest for American cultures?

I am taking 3 heavy classes and want a 4th that's easy but useful.
