What clothes do i bring if im going to college in Maryland

How many pairs of shorts/pants
How many pairs on shirts/jackets

Which part of Maryland/which school? We’re a diverse state with cold mountain air, hot cities, and windy coastlines. And where are you coming from (to get an idea of what you’re acclimated to.)

Closer to D.C. (University of Maryland, for example) you can wear shorts in August, September, May, and probably the second half of April. You’ll need a light jacket for October/November and March, and a heavy coat for December through February.

As far as how many pairs, that’s up to you, lol. I’m a guy and had maybe 2 pairs of shorts, 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of khakis, and a variety of t-shirts, polos, hooded sweatshirts, and a few button-ups (if you have the money, you can get some school-themed shirts/sweatshirts on campus that are season-appropriate). I also brought a light, water-resistant jacket for cool days and a wool coat for the days under 40 degrees.

If you’re close to D.C. or another big city you’ll probably want to have at least one suit/formal wear for events or nice nights out on the town. Don’t forget a nice pair of shoes.

Thank you so much for responding. I am interested in towson which is right near baltimore, and im coming from nj lol. Would the same still apply?

Yeah, the same should still apply. Sometimes B’more get a bit more snow than the D.C. area but not enough to warrant a completely new wardrobe.

If you’re from NJ just plan on it being 5-10 degrees warmer on average. Fall semester will start around 90 degrees and steadily drop down to highs in the 40s come December. January will be highs in the 30s, dropping to 20s in February, then work up to 80s in May.
