Do the following colleges NOT look at your freshman GPA???

USC
College of the Holy Cross
Trinity College (Connecticut)
University of Michigan
Carnegie Mellon
Wake Forest
Oxford College of Emory University (Heard that it is less selective than Emory, but is very rigorous)

My school does not calculate GPA. My freshman first semester results are pretty mediocre (around B+~A), but my freshman second semester results are pretty good (A~A+).

Do the schools listed above scrutinize your freshman GPA?

Can you recommended other 'good' schools that do not look at your freshman GPA?

Thank You

All colleges look at your freshman year. It’s the least significant of the four, but it’s a year of high school nonetheless.

UMIch: No freshman year calculated in GPA…

From what I understand, those universities do not look at freshmen GPA.

I would guess they sure do consider your freshman year grades. But if you continue to do well in high school, those few Bs won’t matter all that much. Score high on the testing, write engaging essays, and get great recs and everything will end up fine. :)

GOOD LUCK!!

Carnegie does but it’s low like 3.54 average

low for freshman or low overall?

They definitely won’t scrutinize your first semester freshman grades (many transcripts only show year-end grades as well, so they’d see an A-/A average) and, as you know, some ignore them. Don’t worry.

I currently have a 3.5 gpa, but if I work hard (which I am) I can get a 3.7 before year end. But for a worst case scenario, is a 3.5 gpa bad freshman (hardest courses offered, I am taking a 10th grade science course in 9th grade).

No, 3.5 is fine, especially if you show an upward trend. Just bring it up next year.

dont worry, I will!
THANKS!
