What colleges do you think have the most school spirit?

I've lived in different parts of the country, and I have to go with Texas A&M on this one. I just attended a wedding where the wedding cake was designed to look like the Aggie bonfire.

Dukies have a lot of spirit, esp during basketball season

Texas-Austin
Michigan
Georgia
Florida
North Carolina
Oklahoma
Kansas
NC State
Clemson
Minnesota
Michigan State
Auburn
Indiana
Connecticut
Iowa
Purdue
Pittsburgh
Miami FL
Texas A&M
Maryland
Syracuse
Penn State
Washington
USC
Wake Forest
UCLA
Virginia
Notre Dame
Duke
Stanford

... and maybe that crappy school in Columbus

It is actually fact that 1 out of every 30 people attend Penn State at one point in their life. Consider the fact that there is PSU State College, PSU Altoona, PSU Delaware, PSU Berks, PSU Hershey, PSU Harrisburg, PSU York, PSU...need I go on? Plus continuing/adult education...

I'm a Pennsylvanian, but I have no Nittany Lion spirit.

Duke- Cameron Crazies aaaare crazy!

Stanford, of the highly selective.

ReninDetroit, you are so right, Ann Arbor during football season is craaaazzzzy. My sister actually transferred out because she didnt like football and couldnt stand that people basically ignored her whenever she tried to talk about something other than football.

My sister unfourtanetly visited in late spring of her senior year, hence her oblivion to the true spirit of Wolverine Pride.

what school does green and white represent?

Green and white could be any number of schools. I think Dartmouth and Michigan State University are the main two.

I looked at Penn State, and the statistic is 1 out of every 30 Pennsylvanians attended penn state, and 1 out of every 720 americans went to penn state.

Wisconsin--sells out not one, not two, but three major sports every game. Everyone wears red. Most of the other schools have one decent sport.

czechitout, there is no PSU State College. The main campus is Penn State University Park. Sorry about your lack of Nittany Lion spirit. There is nothing quite like Happy Valley during a football weekend.

Both USCs (particularly the "Fight On" USC), definitely the Wisconsin Badgers, UNC, almost any Big 10 or SEC school.

I like school spirit. It made me feel part of something outside of myself although I understand it's not for everyone. My wife couldn't care less about sports and other stuff like that at Carolina where we met.

Barrons, it is easy for games to be sold out when your stadium only has 80,000 capacity. Try filling up a stadium with 110,000 seats! hehe! But averaging close to 15,000 spectators for college hockey is pretty impressive, I will give you that.

Princeton has the most well-attended college reunion in the country, if not the world. I think that is telling.

Princeton Reunions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

campus dirt says the most die hard fans can be found at:

University of georgia
Ohio state university
Texas a&m university, college station
Louisiana state university
University of kansas main campus
Gonzaga university
University of notre dame
University of kentucky
Duke university
Florida state university

Some people regard "alumni giving rate" as an objective measure of "school spirit" (although this factor obviously addresses alumni, rather than current students). The theory is that a high giving rate shows a high degree of alumni "connection" to a school, even after graduation.

By this measure, the highest ranked universities according to USN&WR are:

60% Princeton
52% Dartmouth
52% Duke
49% Notre Dame

Public universities generally have lower giving rates, possibly because alumni of these schools feel that they already contribute financially through tax dollars. Georgia Tech (31%) stands out among publics.

In general, the highest alumni giving rates are at liberal arts colleges, rather than at universities.

From what I've seen, southern state schools tend to have the most (Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Florida, FSU, Duke, LSU, Auburn, etc.).

Northern state schools have it too, but the southern schools tend to be more die-hard about it. Penn State might be an exception.

The green and white alluded to above meant michigan st. for whoever asked that. Not Dartmouth for whoever said that y would mich fans hate dartmouth?

Anyway ku (rock chalk jayhawk) has tons of spirit as does UNC. Basically, any major sports conference school will have a lot of school spirit, and usually the school with the better, or historically better teams i.e. Notre Dame, will have even more school spirit.

Did you know that 1/30 people have gone to PennState?

.....what?

There is a lot of very spirited schools. But between which schools is the most rivalry?
