what colleges have animation major or something similar?

So I want to study Animation and Special Effects or something close to that (like Game and Interactive Media Design). I dont know of many schools that offer those majors. Only school that I have found with a Animation Major is Drexel University in Philly.

Any help would be appreciated. Only ones I dont want are any that are "The Art Institute of...", and I mean the ones whose logo is a red capital A and lowercase i.

Anything else I will take, no matter where it is.

Thanks

Your lack of research is disturbing. If you simply google animation schools., you would find many . Even here, there are many threads. For example:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/999043-masters-animation-college-us-canada.html

and http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/1241951-online-3d-animation-training.html

and ESPECIALLY http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/visual-arts-film-majors/1238699-really-need-help-whats-good-school-animation.html

Also, go to the forums in the CG talk site. You can find CG talk by searching for them on google. They have forums. In the forums , you will find a thread “colleges and schools.”

Have you looked into Chapman’s Dodge College for Digital Arts? Some colleges maybe listed under Animation and some maybe listed under Digital Arts.
[B.F.A. Digital Arts - Dodge College of Film and Media Arts](http://ftv.chapman.edu/programs/sodaro-pankey_undergraduate_school_of_media_arts/digital_arts/)

Ha, taxguy is right, google up some more.

Check this out though:

[AICAD - Find a School by Name](http://aicad.org/byname.htm)

Good schools on that list, check them out and see if they have animation programs (most do).

Thanks for the answers…I had looked some of them up. I just wanted to see if maybe someone had some suggestion of where I could find some or know of some I might have missed. The only problem I found with googling “animation schools” is that I either get Art Institues (the ones I mentioned above) or some random schools that dont apply to me…

thanks for the suggestion to look up CG Talk…had no idea about it. seems like a useful site. will definitely use it soon.

pipe,
A university you might consider for animation and digital arts is the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California. There is a new animation building which has the latest technology. Creative expression is encouraged in small classes. It is part of the $100+ million dollar complex donated and partially designed by the famous director/producer, George Lucas.

The Los Angeles location is a plus for connections to studios and game companies. Alumni from the school interact with students through visits, lectures, interviews, internships and workshops. I suggest you visit the school’s website and view some of the YouTube videos which also give you an insight into CSA’s mission and goals.

USC is a private university. SCA practices need blind admissions. The university offers both competitive merit scholarships and a large financial aid program.

The website for the School of Cinematic Arts is: [University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu)
