I have about a 95.5-96 gpa overall (junior), 1900 SAT (560 CR, 690 M, 650 W), private jesuit high school, white, great ecs. I want to study business, I'm leaning towards management. I am in NY and just took the ACT with writing(on practice tests, my composite score was around 29-31). I have visited binghamton and Scranton, I liked scranton more than Binghamton. Im visiting babson, bentley, northeastern, and BU this week. What other colleges should I be looking at? I'm open to any colleges but I prefer the northeast region.

Bump…

shart- you on the right track with schools mentioned. Son was accepted to Bing, Scranton, and NE. Rejected at Babson. Heard Babson is great if you are entreptreneur major. Know people at NE and are very happy with busineess coop there too. Bentley is highly rated and heard Byrant is up and coming and would offer you 14k merit or so. Also check college data site and can see what scores are good and can see what merit was offered if user posted.

Fordham, American, Pitt and Rutgers. Best of luck!

Bryant isn’t up and coming. It has always been up. Management, accounting, and finance students are cheating themselves if they don’t check it out. Major feeder to the Big Four accounting firms, and Fidelity has a massive campus right across the street (the largest office building in Rhode Island). I promise you, if you like a modern campus, one look at Bryant will end your college search.

I’m currently looking at Bryant and Fordham. I can’t see myself going to Pitt or Rutgers because I’m a huge SU fan and I despise them. I don’t think I want to go to DC for college, I am not big on politics. Thanks for the suggestions though

Bump…

I do not have much info on Bryant but sons friend just got in off waitlist and changed from Scranton to Bryant. Yes, campus looks great and have heard job placement is tops. So ask yourself, what do I want from a college and maybe that may help you focus on target schools.

Hi,

1) You need to ask your parents how much they’ll pay each year for college. That will largely determine where you should apply.

2) You need to determine what your likely “family contribution” will be at the schools that “meet need.” However, most schools do NOT meet need, and usually require families to pay more than they thought they would need to pay.

3) When you get your ACT, it will be easier to determine where you should apply.

4) If you will need merit scholarships, then you really should take the SAT again because your Math + Critical Reading score is a 1250, which is too low for good sized merit scholarships from the schools that give them. To get good sized merit scholarships, your M+CR should be around 1400+ (or equivalent ACT). Some lower ranked schools will give good sized merit for ACT 30+ (or equivalent SAT).

So, if you don’t know how much your parents will pay each year, ask them. Since you go to a Jesuit High school, I’m guessing that your family has a good income, so you may not qualify for financial aid. You do NOT want to be one of those seniors who find out in the spring that their colleges expect their parents to pay a lot more than the parents will/can pay.

however, if your parents have said that they will pay $50k+ per year for wherever you go, then fine. :)

Update: ACT Composite- 30, 30 E, 30 M, 31 R, 30 S, 27 E/W (7 on essay)
That was my April ACT and I just took the June ACT
May SAT Score- 1860, 620 CR, 650 M, 590 W (7 on essay).
SAT Superscored- 1960, 620 CR, 690 M, 650 W (8 on essay).
I also took the June SAT IIs in Math II and Lit.
My college list right now is Bentley University, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern University, Villanova University, University of Scranton, Fordham University, and Syracuse University. Is that a good list and are there any other colleges I should give look at?

Babson add to the list, and Brandies. Otherwise I’d say you’re pretty good. Maybe Hamilton or Colgate?

You have good stats, go for Lehigh University.Hell give Stern a shot. Your 30 on the ACTs will put you around 30-40 percentile for Stern kids

good stats. maybe univeristy of maryland college park could be a bit of a safety school for you, maybe not, but i’d definately consider it, its an excellent university and is getting pretty competitive.

tell me what colleges i can get into please!

If you love SU, you’re in. Whitman is good and have a ton of connections.

Babson…love it, but totally different.
