What colleges should I be looking to apply at?

Bump! Would really appreciate feedback.

It seems like you are just padding your resume even though they are amazing. 400+ service hours in addition to 17 plays and you’re not even a junior? Colleges will question how truly committed you are. It seems like these ECs are almost too good to be true. I mean, you have 12 and anything about 7 is sketchy. Try to focus in on 4-5 going forward and 6 TOPS.

@KiaraInNYC‌ The 17 plays are throughout my lifetime. In my high school career I’ve done 5! Hope this helps clear the confusion about how many I’ve done just in high school.

And you have 500 hours of volunteering in just freshman and sophomore year? That’s very impressive. I think the schools you listed are matches. However, I’m not sure that Carnegie Mellon is a good option for pre-med students as there is grade deflation there. I think you should look into washu and maybe hyps (which would be a reach for nearly everyone).

@theanaconda‌ that is through middle and high school. will those hours need to be separated?

Oh! Okay, I was confused! Can you separate your middle school ECs from your high school ones?

Yes, they will be separated on the common app

everything besides the community service is just high school @KiaraInNYC‌

Centre College is an easy match for you, especially considering your strong EC’s and volunteer work; however, be careful about putting TOO MANY extracurriculars on your application unless you can truly say that you’re passionate about them (definitely include ones where you had leadership positions though)

Vanderbilt and Carnegie Mellon are never straight-up matches for anyone, but you have a great chance at both of the colleges and just make sure your essays, recommendations, and interviews are strong at whichever school you choose.

Does the pre-med track fit my profile?

You don’t include middle school and elementary school EC’s… only those that you did in high school…

@noel597. All of these are things I have done in high school. To show commitment, I put 17 plays in because it shows I didn’t do it to pad a resume, but did it out of genuine interest. I have been volunteering for the same organizations since middle school, so that’s why it’s combined. Everything else is JUST high school.

I did soccer since I was four to middle school, but I didn’t include that on here.

BUMP!

Honestly if you can maintain a 3.9+ UW GPA, get a 2200+ SAT and rank in the top 3 of your class, your hopes shouldn’t be Carnegie Mellon. They should honestly be Stanford, Harvard, Yale, UPenn, etc. Make sure to take SAT 2s and to get amazing scores on them (780+), also try the ACT. You seem very smart, make sure to take a very rigorous class load junior year (which looks like you are) and take one senior year. But do not overwhelm yourself and get Bs. Your ECs are amazing, I’m jealous. You have potential to be at one of the HYPSM schools.

Wow thank you so much!

i would love to hear more opinions!
