You are on the right track. Can I ask you something? When you say “1st generation US College student”, do you mean first person in your family to go to college or first person to go to college in the US?

I mean I am the first person to go to college in the USA

You’re on the right track but obviously things will only get clearer when you’re into junior year since that year matters the most. Good luck!

You’re on the right track, maybe try and do olympiads such as USNCO, or USABO if ur interested in medicine

@Phoenix55555 how would I register for those? School doesn’t have it.

Im not entirely sure exactly… maybe talk to an AP Bio / AP chem teacher at your school. Or go on their respective websites and find out more bout them. Plus theres several threads on here about them as well .

Your still a sophomore, and you seem to be doing well. Your GPA is a bit low for uPenn currently. Your extracurriculars are great, since your school is top 20, being in the top ten percent means a lot more.

i think all your goal colleges are low-mid reaches. They all want high gpa’s (preferably around 3.9 UW) and you should be in top 2 percent. northwestern is the most feasible

Aqaus: are you a citizen/permanent resident, or do you have a visa? This is important for your application categorization and would make things different.

Not sure Management is that useful, even with Robert Morris. Same thing with accounting.

Right now, Pitt is a safety indeed, with a good shot at Honors College&scholarships; Penn State probably too and you have a shot at Shreyer if you keep this up.
All others are crapshoots as you know, and you don’t have any matches. So your goal should be to identify about 5 universities which are in between your safeties and your reaches.
Then run the NPCs and see what your parents think about the numbers.

@MYOS1634 Would it be easier as a citizen or visa?

definitely sounds like you’re on the right track. Getting such a high ACT score while you’re a sophomore is great.

it’d be easier as a citizen/permanent resident.

@MMYOS1634 good  because that’s what I am, does this help my app in any way? Or would it hurt to not be a permanent resident?

While you do have a somewhat low GPA, I recently received a likely letter from UPenn with a lower GPA (3.66). I believe my strength was my EC’s. Schools like to see passion in a certain area and none of your ECs show a passion for medicine. Your classes don not show passion either.

That being said. You can definitely get into your safeties with your scores. Your goal schools are all reaches right now in my opinion. But you definitely have time to change that so don’t worry.

@AirickQue My school doesn’t really have many medical EC’s. I am involved in a Medical Express at Pitt though. And I am taking health courses throughout 10-12. I will also take Honors Anatomy, AP Bio/Chem, and Honors Physics. The only medical related class I am not taking in my school is AP Physics. I think my classes do show passion because I am taking all but one medicine related course.

I was talking about the management, finance, and accounting classes. To be honest I don’t know how abundant medical EC’s are but with engineering they really make a difference. What I was trying to say is that almost everyone takes AP Bio and Chem. You have to distinguish yourself with activities like Medical Express.

You’re on the right track for sure! For some of them though, you just never know. You have awesome stats for a sophomore

@AirickQue the personal finance was required, as I stated before we don’t have many other medicine related courses which I have not taken
@BDM1994 thanks for your opinion
