What colleges should I look at?

As a student I have kind of weird stats and I’m not sure what schools to look at. I go to a highly ranked high school so many students get into lots of competitive schools. I am kind of in the middle in my student body and I don’t know where to apply. I also don’t take a lot of accelerated classes which also makes me unsure.

Stats-
W GPA- 3.93
UW GPA- 3.8
SAT- 1240 (taking again)
ACT- have to take
Honors/APs- English 2 Honors, English 3 Honors, English 4 honors, AP US Hist, AP Euro, AP Spanish

Extracurriculars- 4 years varsity wrestling (2 year captain) 2 years football, 1 year track&field.
Investors Club
Class Rep on the Student council
Young Republicans Club
Mathmatics Honors Society
Athletic Honors Society

I do some volunteer work at an organ donation place and I also participate in beach cleanups.

If anyone has similar stats and wants to share the schools they got into that would be great.

Some schools I am looking at (Finance Major)- James Madison, UCONN, Bentley U, U of Maryland CP, Penn State, Clemson, VTech, TCNJ.

I am looking for a decent business/finance program.

Thank you

I think you have a good chance of getting accepted into these schools.

I was also accepted to James Madison, Virginia Tech (honors), and Bentley - did not apply to any of the other ones mentioned. I have a 4.0 GPA and 1310 SAT score. So, I’d think, if you can get your SAT score just a little higher, you should be able to get into all the above mentioned schools. If you manage to get a really high SAT/ACT score, you could also try for Babson and UNC Chapel Hill. Those should be very good for your major.

What kind of college are you looking for? Does size matter to you? Or location? Coops or internships? Social scene?

Frankly, location was the reason why I decided against attending JMU and VTech. Although amazing schools, they both kind of seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. I did not realize just how little the college towns are until I visited.

Considering your likely major, unless you have family connections that will help you get internships, being close to a wide variety of corporations & financial institutions will be very helpful. Virginia Commonwealth U. comes to mind as a decent school where a huge amount of internship opportunities are literally blocks away.

hey if you’re a nj resident TCNJ is a really good choice. they have a terrific business program , especially finance.
Bloomberg ranks them #34 in the entire nation (including all privates). I can tell you from experience, if you perform well you will have many opportunities. S was a finance major with very good gpa and was offered several top internships to choose from (big 4 and top IB). Good luck.
