UW-Madison would be hard to beat. Great Geology Dept, great in many many foreign languages and English and if you change your mind most other depts range from very good to excellent. And if you stay away from the few ultra-popular majors classes can be surprisingly small in size. And school spirit/sports success–off the charts.
I can understand wanting a change of scenery but you do have a gem right at home.

What SAT subject tests has she taken? Just wondering what other scores she has already. My husband went to UW Madison and loved it for undergrad (engineering). Yes, it’s a big school, but it’s a fantastic school, so hope you don’t write it off just because it’s your State Flagship. It’s one of the top state schools and the price is right for you. I understand that money isn’t an object, but it’s nice to have some savings left should they decide to head on to grad school after undergrad (highly rec in this economy…the longer in school the better…). Good luck!
