Hi I am from England and am looking to study music business in USA from 2014 and was looking for some advice. I will be 29 years old when I enrol and wanted to know if you think it would be more beneficial to study a degree in music business or to look for an industry focused program? And also help on finding great courses that aren't going to break the bank! Also where you think is the best place to study in terms of being in the best place to network and opportunities? I have mainly started with California so far... Hope you can help

None.

Try this. Identify people who already have your “dream job” in the USA. Then find a way to interview them (by mail or email if you have to), and find out how they got where they are. I think you will find that very few people in the music business actually have degrees in “music business”, although I believe such things do exist.

(If the people you admire are famous, they may have wikipedia articles on their lives, which could also help)

Music business? Sounds dodgy, never heard of such a subject… I would suppose most people in that industry (the entertainment industry I presume?) didn’t get to where they are through a college degree, but through connections. Try to network with people in the industry, being in England you could easily come to London (e.g. ministry of sound?) and invite yourself to various networking events. Going to the States, you are gonna be classified as an international student, so the fees are gonna be quite steep. Either way best of luck!
