What Counts as an Extracurricular?

Hey, I’m gonna be the first generation in my family to even apply to college so I didn’t really know where else to ask about this. I have standard extracurricular activities like athletics and clubs but there was something i wanted to put down but wasn’t sure if it counted as like an extracurricular or volunteering or maybe neither of those.
In my spare time I like to help people learn and improve their English. I usually do this through various language helping apps and services for people from other countries who want to improve their language skills. I have a few people that I consistently ‘tutor’ I guess you could say for free and help out.
I wasn’t sure about listing it because, firstly I wasn’t sure what category that would fall under. And second it seems kind of unusual to mention since there really isn’t a hard record you could get of how many hours I’ve spent on it or anything. The only thing I could think of is that I could get one of the people I tutor regularly to speak on my behalf.
What do you guys think?

That is a wonderful activity to include on your application, and it would go well under volunteering. You might also consider it as a topic for an essay if it seems appropriate.

I believe that would count. Just estimate the hours and list it as tutoring.

You can write something like English tutor and estimate the hours. Many people don’t have a hard copy to “prove” their volunteer hours and it sounds like if in the extremely unlikely event your tutoring is questioned you can find people to speak on your behalf so no worries.

Most colleges define extracurricular pretty broadly, basically anything you do outside of your classes, so your tutoring would definitely count. As happy1 suggests, English tutor seems like a good title.
