What courses did you take your freshman year of high school?

@preamble1776
What’s CP?

@JamieH
Didn’t see your post.
Wow, that looks like something everyone on this website did.
Was Accounting hard? Cool that they offered it.

@ulzzang - How many credits do you need per year?

@observeraffect Nothing per year, but generally 8.

@observeraffect
Here’s what I’m thinking about taking (not the eight required, but the ones I’m gonna have to narrow down) :
English I Honors
P.E./Health (required)
Biology Honors
Earth and Env. Honors
Math II/Math III Honors (depends on whether I take a class over the summer)
Civics and Econ. Honors
Maybe another math - Math III/ Pre Cal Honors
French I
Art I (art elective required)

this is just an idea

@ulzzang How good are you at Math and what AP classes does your school offer?

AP Human Geo
Art 1
Freshman PE
Honors Written & Oral Communications
Honors Biology
Honors Geometry
Spanish 2

Geometry
Living Environment/Biology
English
World History
Spanish II
Gym
Band
Freshman Seminar

Sorry, I should’ve realized that would be confusing! We had to take PE and Health for a semester and then I took Photography second semester for part of my art requirement.
Accounting was an alright class. I was kind of bored by it but it was very easy. I had a 99/100 the whole year. We are required to take a business class though so I did accounting. A lot of the stuff we learned was actually pretty relevant and useful.

@JamieH Good job on your average and thanks for the explanation about the photography class. Practical classes tend to be good classes.

@ulzzang - CP stands for “College Preparatory” - its basically the standard or basic level for a class - all introductory electives and foreign language courses are considered CP.

@observeraffect Agreed. I just hate how my school requires us to take business classes. I have no interest in them whatsoever and I could be spending my time on something much more useful to my future plans.

@JamieH Ouch. How many business credits do you need to graduate?

Semester 1:

English 1
Spanish 1
Algebra 1B
P.E.
Biology
Intro To Social Studies

Semester 2:

English 1
Spanish 1 (got a D second semester and had to retake it Sophomore year)
Algebra 1B
P.E.
Biology
Health

@observeraffect We have to take 3 semesters and I’ve only done 2 so far. I’ll either take an easy one semester course next year when I’m a Junior or maybe when I’m a Senior because I also have to take another semester of art.

My schedule last year as a freshman:

Band
French 1
AP Human Geography
IB Prep Biology
Honors English
IB Prep Algebra 2 w/ Trig

Pre-AP English 9
Pre-AP World History
Biology
Algebra II
Spanish I
Gym
Speech (Fall)
Marching Band (Fall)
Concert Band (Spring)
Computer Apps (Spring)

I should have taken Pre-AP Biology (I now regret not doing so), but I thought I sucked at math/science so I didn’t. Otherwise, I had the hardest schedule available to freshmen. I was one of 12 out of nearly 200 to take Algebra II as a freshmen, and I had the other 2 Pre-AP classes offered. My electives were all the mind-numbing graduation requirements - nothing I particularly enjoyed.

Honors English 9
Honors Biology
Geometry
AP Human Geography
Spanish 2
Fitness for Life
Introduction to Digital Media

We have 7 periods in a day. I took 6 (intro and gym were semester courses).

Advanced US History I
Spanish I
Computer Art I
Creative Writing
Biology
Advanced Geometry
Health/Gym
Advanced English 9

My school has an A/B (even/odd) day schedule. I have eight classes all year, 4 on A day and 4 on B day.

Honors World History 2
Honors English 9
Honors Biology
French 3
Spanish 1 (self studied Spanish 2 so I could take Spanish 3 next year)
Honors Algebra 2
AP Psychology
Health/PE 9
