There’s a question on FAFSA that asks what degree I’ll be pursuing in the 2017-2018 year; I’m currently a senior in high school. I want to go into pre-pharm, but does that have a degree? Or does it differ with each school’s programs? (And in the case of the latter, if anyone knows anything specific about what to put if I’m considering UPitt’s and Rutgers’ programs, that’d be immensely helpful!) Thanks!
Bachelors degree…because even as a pharm student…that’s where you will start as a first year student.
Thanks! Would you happen to know even if a school’s pre-pharm program explicitly says that they do not give a bachelor’s degree if I should still put “bachelor’s”?
Pitt used to give a Bachelor’s degree BSPS after 4 years (2 prepharm, P1, P2).
For this FAFSA you should put that you are a first year student/never attended college and working on the first bachelor’s degree.
Thank you so much!
Yes, because you are starting out in the school of Arts and Sciences with all the other bio and chem and premed majors. And if you change your mind about pharmacy school later, you can pursue another major.
I used to work at a school with a 6-year PharmD program. Students were undergrad until they earned a certain number of credits. At that point, our PharmD financial aid liaison would help them update their FAFSAs to graduate level.
At graduate level the only aid usually is (grad and grad plus) loans and maybe any scholarships the school offers.
