What did you guys put in Additional Info?

:) 10 charchar

I wrote another essay  Love writing so much! I just want more space to write! (but my supplemental essay has already shrunk the font size quite much :frowning: )

oh okay,
yea i know, the font sizes change…

Can we put an essay of any lengths?

I probably say no. If you turn to section 10 and see the preview, you will see that your additional info is written in the last page of the file (only ONE page). So if it is too long … you know what happens :D

okay  Thanks

I just gave the title of my research paper. Didn’t include an abstract and now I’m wondering if I should have done…

Didn’t know we could write a whole extra essay, but I think I’ve given them enough info about myself with the other ones so I’m satisfied.

I put my common app essay since it covered something that wasn’t in the regular app.

I put awards from mathematical competitions and short elaboration of one activity.

You can still send the abstract. I think the title will tell nothing about your research.

Inconclusive, how can I go about sending my abstract?

The thing is that it’s not a science research paper. It’s more economics/sociology related and it’s written in French!

I too am debating. I do not know if I should put my common app essay or just write about thought.

I wrote another essay cuz I’ve had a unique life situation so I thought I should include that and I’m also sending in a link to my photobucket account for my 3D model images that I’ve done.

I think it does not matter if your research is physics related or sociology related. You may be good at math but who knows they may like your sociology research.
Think about if you are the only one who has done sociology related research, who knows. MIT reads tons of science research papers and doing some thing different may help you.

The language my be a problem though, is it a long paper? Can you translate?

I included a short summary of my research project. It was only about five sentences.

well, i switched schools right before my senior year. i explained that in my additional info section.

also, my interviewer suggested that i send in a supplemental recommendation from this community service group that i did work with, so i explained that as well

Thanks Inconclusive, I think I’ll send the abstract. It’s 300 words long, but I can try to cut it down. I can translate it to English if necessary.

How do I go sending in the extra info? Should I do it by email? I did actually send the French abstract to the Common App universities, but am now thinking that I should’ve included an English translation or something… :/

I always advise sending extra material by postal mail rather than by email – since the folders read by the admissions officers are physical, any emailed material must be printed off. So it saves them a bit of work by mailing your supplemental material.

Even though French is well know language, I don’t think it is good idea to send the French abstract. I think doing the research should be much harder than translating it. You did the hard part why not the easy part! Don’t worry about the past, just do this one right.

I don’t know much about that.
But this may help

Mollie just answered your question!

I put nothing in that part. Hope it’s ok

i left that section blank. i thought i might write something that would contrast the picture created in the last ten or so pages of the application or introduce something new that might question the previous pages of my application. i was clueless so i wrote nothing
