Well I’ve recognized that I miss about 2 SC each time, but I’m intensely studying vocab so that won’t be an issue come october. Like I said, I know what I’m SUPPOSED to do on the reading. I’ve improved over the course of my studying, I guess I just need to keep at it.

I took the SAT in June 2010 with very little prep and got a 2080. My math score was atrocious and I did quite a bit worse on critical reading than I had anticipated, so I’m planning on taking it for the second (and last) time in October.

1900-Junior Year (Nov.)

Very little preparation.

8th Grade - 1810. Yeah it sucks.
Don’t worry. My scores junior year are too legit to quit.

Why do people take the SAT in middle school? I didn’t know 13 year olds could sit still for 5 hours.

Usually as part of university-sponsored talent searches.

January Junior year - 2070 (630CR, 720M, 720W)
Raised it up to a much more satisfying 2260 with double 800’s (on the latter 2 sections) - and with around just 15-20 hours worth of prep spread over a month between May and June.

Also, I retook in May without studying (I intended to but time moved quickly between Jan and May) and got the same on CR + M (practically) but a 790 on W (no prep.)
I went into the Jan. test with absolutely no preparation aside from a taking a prep. booklet, minus the essay (the March 2005 test, I believe) in my sophomore year, which I had totally forgotten and probably didn’t help me at all. So basically, my only advantage was not having to read the directions on the test.

Are we counting practice tests? My practice tests were 1900 - 2000 - 2100 and then I got a 2170 on my first real SAT.

I need to go get a blue book…

2100

660–CR
730–M ()
700–W ()

Expected a 2240. FAIL

@Ivystriver2: If you haven’t yet, then yeah it is highly recommended that you do. I progressed from 1800-1900-2000-2100-2170 just by taking practice tests and studying a bit of vocab. Taking practice tests helps you become more comfortable with the test, and it is pretty important that you are comfortable and confident with the test.

Yea, I think if I take 8 of those tests, then I can increase my speed and focus on those 1-2 problems that always mess me up.

June sophomore year: 2380. Thank God.

2180, junior year. I was pleasantly surprised, but now I want more (due to CC influence :D).
My preparation was not well planned, I didn’t practice essays, I didn’t study word lists, and that reflected on my CR and W scores. I’m international and English is my second language, so I should’ve focused more on that.

2290, during what would be the equivalent of…junior year? I think. Had a 110 point jump this January, the month after that.

This thread genuinely makes me sad. Almost EVERYONE here is complaining about a score less than 2300, when I can’t even break 1950 after a week of nonstop studying.

June 2010: 2300 (800 CR, 740 M, 760 W)
that was my first time, and i’m a rising senior… hopefully break the 2300 barrier on the October test for early action/ early decision.

I got a 2120 (690 CR, 700 M, 730 W). Took it cold sophomore year, actually the day RIGHT after I was released from the hospital after recovering from a nearly life-threatening fever (was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit).

@ LulzMaster – Same! I got a 2300 in May (800CR/730M/770W 10E). I’ll be taking it again in October, and I plan on scoring an 800W 12E and boosting the Math just a bit, especially since I made two stupid mistakes the first time. I believe I can earn a 2400 if I really focus.
