Hi, I would like to know if your conditions of admission changed once you got to the check list part before you accepted your admission. My daughter says that her checklist indicated that she had to earn a grade of B or better in all of her classes but her original conditions indicate a 3.0 or C or better. Would love to hear what yours indicated.
I’m pretty sure the requirements are 3.0 unweighted GPA with no D’s/F’s. The “B or better” could just be referring to the overall GPA (3.0 unweighted is B-average). I didn’t SIR yet, but I’m presuming this is what it means.
That’s why I’m confused. She was literally reading off the boxes as she checked them off. My husband was hearing her too and we both remarked that a B or better in her courses was unusual. We didn’t double check though and when we went back to check her original conditions of admission it states a C or better. I’m wondering if berkeley sets different conditions for each candidate? I know some are being told to attend the summer bridge program as part of the conditions.
@Vegasbound2020!!! I looked at the Undergraduate Update Form, for not meeting the admission conditions (but I didn’t fill it out). The conditions there said:
“1. I have earned/will earn a grade of D or lower in a senior year math course.
2. I have earned/will earn a grade of D or lower in a senior year science course.
3. I have not earned/will not earn a passing score on the TOEFL/IELTS exam.
4. I have not met/will not meet the 3.0 minimum GPA one or more terms during my senior year.
5. I have added/dropped a course(s) to my senior year schedule.”
So, I think the “B or better” is just a reference to the overall unweighted GPA per semester.
I would like to agree but others are bringing up this discrepancy on the class of 2020 fb group of ucb. Until others post what they checked off prior to submitting SIR, I am going to keep wondering. My daughter doesn’t want to inquire at admissions BC she feels confident that she will get all B’s or better, but I can’t help but feel nervous. When I mention it to her, she gets upset BC she thinks that I’m implying that she cannot meet this condition. What’s a mom to do? Hopefully others will chime in after they SIR!!!
@Vegasbound2020!!! I just SIRed, and the one of the conditions said “B or better in classes”, but then, for the same condition, proceeded to say 3.0 unweighted for each term. Another one of the conditions talked about passing all classes taken in senior year (a paraphrased version of the actual statement). I think the fact that another condition says “pass all classes” implies that C’s are ok, as long as the unweighted GPA is 3.0 or greater.
