Hiya. I'm new here, so pardon if I've placed this in the wrong subforum or something.

Anyways, I had a general question (probably something I should know, but I don't). When you send in your transcript, do colleges see the year average in every class for every year or every quarter grade for all 3 or 4 years? For instance, in a sophomore math class, would they see all four quarter grades, or just the final average year grade?

The reason I'm asking is because in my Honors Algebra II class this year, I started off rocky. I have an anxiety problem (courtesy of a teacher from hell the previous year) and it caused me to unnecessarily freak out during testing and essentially do poorly. I've improved a lot and lifted my average an 89.45. Although I've had a B the past two quarters, I know I can raise it to an A by the year's end. I have all A's in my other classes and I'm afraid those B's will come to hurt me. Anyways, question is, what exactly do colleges see? Thanks so much for replies, any bit of solace would be great.

Our school's transcript shows the semester grades, not the quarter grades. Will your guidance office print you out a copy for you to see?

Having a B is not going to haunt you. It will look good if you can raise it to an A, but even if it stays a B you will be fine, especially in the Honors course.

Colleges "see" what your high school sends. Some schools, like twomules' school, send semester grades. Some schools, like my d's school, send only final grades. Some schools probably send quarter grades.

You need to ask your guidance counselor what your transcript will look like. You should ask to see it as well, so that you can verify that everything is correct.

If school is on a semester system, all that I am aware send a transcript that provides end of first semester and end of year grade, and they base overall GPAs on both of those (not just end of year) and thus need to report it that way when they provide your verall GPA. However, best way to find out exactly what your school sends is ask your school to tell you or give you a copy of your transcript..
