I signed up for the June 10 orientation on June 4. Therefore, I don't think I'm going to receive the confirmation package that's supposed to come in the mail. In it, it lists what to bring to orientation. Can anyone help me out and list everything?

Here's what the paper says you'll need:

-Uniqname & Password
-Backpack
-Walking Shoes
-Comfortable Clothing
-Alarm Clock
-Fan
-#2 Pencils
-Long Twin Sheets, pillow, pillowcase, towls
-Umbrella
-Orientation Confirmation Letter (might be a problem for you...)
-Toiletries
-Picture ID
-AP Scores/Transcript
-Water Bottle
-Parking Permit
-Money for Parking/Social activities (I assume they mean dinner)
-Enthusiasm!

And that's that! Tell me if you need any more info from the packet :)

Great... I don't have the confirmation letter or my transcripts. Maybe I can bring the e-mail confirmation in place of the confirmation letter though.

Do they need an official transcript or just something that will tell them your classes/grades just for orientation / placement purposes?

I believe it is just for placement purposes/registering for courses. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I didn't bring a transcript or AP scores with me to orientation, and I don't think they really need them. If for whatever reason they need your transcript, it should be on file somewhere from your application. Only reason you might need to bring AP scores is if you didn't select to have them sent to U of M and have had them mailed to your house before you leave for orientation. Otherwise, you can just tell your advisor your expected scores and you can schedule accordingly.

I think the confirmation letter is only important if for some reason you don't show up on the list of people they're expecting for that orientation session.

If you like to party, add liquor to that list. Just don't get an MIP or anything.

picture id..how do we get a picture id?

driver's license...passport...if u have neither go to your driver's license center and apply for a photo id

haha some girl at my orientation actually got an MIP. ems had to come get her.
