Do I submit an updated essay or something? And I'm confused about the Mid-year report and updated transcript. I know I have to do it by February but how?

Your counselor should handle the Mid-year and the updated transcript.

You don’t need to submit an updated essay, but a letter saying that UChicago is your first choice (especially if you can confirm that you will attend if accepted) has helped people in the past.

Good advise here:

If you state in a deferral letter than you will attend no matter what/over any other university acceptance/anything along those lines, would it help? Is it significant to ‘bind’ yourself ?

@ijustwantsuccess , can’t hurt.

This was really helpful. Thank you marylandfour!

According to my counselor, it makes a significant difference at almost any school.

and if they do accept you, does the deferral letter serve as a contract, meaning you must go?

@ijustwantsuccess Come on, do you really not wanna go to UChicago if accepted…jk.

@kaarboer Lol what if you say that to all the schools you were deferred to?

my thoughts exactly…would they respond my confirming that you will attend if accepted
@ThePariah I would personally want to look at the financial packages as well as have some sort of options before fully committing myself over a deferral

Oh that’s true…but doesn’t UChicago give excellent aid? My family’s income is record low (you know what I mean)…
