I took alg 1 freshman year, geo over the summer, alg 2 sophomore year, and i am currently taking pre-calc. I have not taken my final yet but I have a D in the class right now. I don’t think my mom will let me retake the class during the summer soley because it costs so much. Other classes I am taking are AP english, AP environmental science, Honors US history, Spanish 2, and WaterPolo. This is my third year in varsity waterpolo and jv swim i don’t know if that helps at all. I don’t know what to do, I want to go to UCR, UOP. or something like that, but if those schools do not accept and Ds and Fs at all, I am screwed. What do I do?
You go to extra help after school, get a tutor, and do everything you can to raise your grade. Not many colleges will accept D grades. Unless you are a super duper recruited athlete for a D1 university, colleges are not going to overlook your grades because of your sport. In fact, most will wonder why you are sacrificing your grades in favor of your sport. Grades are the most important aspect of your application. Meanwhile, plan on a summer job to pay for taking summer school if you need to.
Failing that, community college is a perfectly fine option.
Take a deep breath first. Judging from your username and the thread name, you seem a little frazzled. Do what @Lindagaf is suggesting and mind their warnings, but make sure you have a clear head, and that your stress doesn’t overpower everything.
This isn’t the end of the world, and depending on how your teachers grade, as long as you work hard, you should wind up with something better than a D. If all else fails, as long as you do everything possible to up your grade, you might wind up with a convincing argument to retake in the summer for your mother. Good luck!
