what do MFAs in creative writing do?

Do they usually end up teaching or something? how will i know if this is right for me? I think a cool dream job would be those people working behind television dramas and deciding on the storyline, etc. (screenwriters?) i don't even know what they're called, much less know how to get there. i just assumed an MFA in creative writing might help.

I have a BFA and was one hell of a bartender.

An MFA in creative writing or film writing can certainly help you find work as screenwriter or TV-writer ... if you get into one of the top two or three programs. Getting that gig is entirely about putting yourself in the position to get a "break", then impressing the hell out of whoever gave it to you. An MFA might introduce you to a break, but then so might putting half that money into producing a short film or original play.

Maybe a more direct approach is to go for an MFA in screenwriting. In California, check out USC or Chapman U/Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, for example.

You might also pick up some tips by reading the section on "Arts Majors" even though most of it applies to undergrads.
