I've always wondered what they bring other than their luxury vehicles.

Their false sense of entitlement

a lack of perspective

Lots of hate for rich people on this forum, huh?

I generally don't say there are stupid questions... but this is a stupid question.

Just because someone has more money than someone else doesn't mean they act any different. From experience, I'd say most people that appear rich (in terms of blatant showing off and talking about how much money they have) generally aren't actually that rich... quite often that fancy car they drive and big house they live in actually only makes them quite poor via all the debt they have. Most of the really rich people I know live quite modest lifestyles (hence one of the reasons why they've got so much money ;-) ).

money.....

a portion of my tuition, as well :-)

Laundry service... My brother's friend's roommate at Duke got that.

I've noticed that! The rich looking people are actually quite poor because they spend all their money trying to look rich.

this is a terrible post. are you trying to be funny? (to the original post)

i know just as many wealthy people that flaunt their money for bragging rights as i do poor people that flaunt their poverty for pity points.

so what do poor people bring to college? dirty rags and canteens filled with rum and brandy?

stereotyping is a terrible thing, and makes absolutely no sense =)

This really ****es me off, I don't see why people on here are so against people with money. You are all sound more sheltered than the 'rich' people you seem to have so much against.

saxonthebeach, okgirl, and rightnotleft Good luck living in your little box, you think just because you aren't rich you are any better than someone who has money? Grow up.

They usually bring higher quality items, you know..new mattress so they dont have to use the dorm one, HD tv, nice fridge, jewelry, clothes, shoes, etc.

According to your standards, I must be rich.

I've got an HDTV, a fridge, and plenty of clothes and shoes to go along with my laptop and my 4 gig MP3. [sarcasm]Must be rich. [/sarcasm]

Calm down Burgler, we don't hate rich people. This is just a stupid topic that warrants a stupid answer.

Rich people bring what everyone else brings - clothes, TV, fridge, linens, etc - they're just higher quality.

I personally do not believe this is a stupid topic and/or question. Rich kids b bring the same as us poor folks, but SOME rich kids are snobs and they do walk above everyone as if they're better, AND they think the world stops and goes at their convinence, AND they're ungratful AND unappreciative, AND most real rich people look poor, but when you go their homes, they live in manisons and drive fancy cars. They bring nothing more to college than me and you, except SOME rich people tend to bring a sense that the world revolves around them, however, college is the place where they realize it doesn't.

Burgler, I don't have anything against rich people because technically, my family is rich. I still live a semi-modest lifestyle. I wasn't trying to offend you. All I did was agree with rocketman08 (which you left off your list, btw) that the people that try soo hard to look rich are usually in a lot of debt or they are trying to impress the wrong type of people.

umm ... if people can't handle tongue-in-cheek remarks ... ok then.

rich people bring the same things to college as other people, just they might be slightly nicer, but probably not. They MIGHT have different experiences to bring to the table (travels others might not have had, interactions with people others might not have had), but most likely not.

the noticeable difference comes from the megarich, SOME of whom my tongue in cheek comment "describes".

sheez.
honestly, not much difference.

"This really ****es me off, I don't see why people on here are so against people with money. You are all sound more sheltered than the 'rich' people you seem to have so much against.

that's quite funny. i'd think it was the other way around.. rich people thinking they're better than people with no money.

i have no idea what rich people bring. probably their maids and servants.

Here, you can always tell the rich people from the normal/poor people by people whose parents own the condo they live in, or who's renting a cheapo apartment in the sketchy part of town (this is normal people and poor). You can also tell because the rich people take the vacations to their summer home in cabo or whatever, while most normal people it's like, "oh yeah, let's go to the beach for 3 days and stay in 1 hotel room with 4 or 5 of us." I've never met any that were particularly mean or that were entitlement wh-res, except a few frat guys who think they're the end all be all of everything because daddy pays the $3000 a semester fees for their house. It does seem like most rich people think it's completely normal to do the stuff I mentioned, when it's clearly not to most people.

You all are completely right about the flashy "rich" not being so rich because they spend all their money showing off. Generally these upper middle class types have the convertible, the hottest new phone, the designer jeans, the cabo spring break, etc. Then they're completely in debt.

the truly rich people i know aren't all that flashy. they're just like anybody else.
