I have had phone interviews with companies last year and if I got a next round or an offer, they would call. If I didn't, I never heard back from them.

For the on campus interviews that I had last year, I got offers from all of them so they always called back.

This is my question:
After going through several on campus interviews, they all told me I would hear a decision in a couple weeks. By that, do they mean that they would call back even if you dont get an next round/offer? Or do they mean the "We will call back if we are interested" type of deal?

From what I’ve seen, they don’t bother calling, but they do send you an email or a letter saying that they appreciate your interest but they’re interested in going in a different direction bla bla bla…

I know this is definitely true for phone interviews. They usually not call you for like 2 months and then all of a sudden you get a email saying not interested, probably at the end of the recruiting cycle where they close out all positions.

But I heard various different versions wrt on campus recruiting. Anyone else with more information would be appreciated.
