what do u do?

Ok I was wondering, to all you seniors who have a g/f or b/f that will still be in high school or a g/f or b/f going to a diff. college what are you going to do? Do u expect to breakup or are you going to tryit. If your going to try it, do you really think it will work? I thought it was kind of understood (mostly b/c of the mass breaking up at my HS) that your going to break up but now im realizing that it would be sooo hard.......

I'm going through it and I've seen many friends go through it.
If you're going to a nearby college and your gf/bf is still in HS, it can work out fine.
If you're going away or to different colleges (that aren't in the same city),forget it.

I'm not dating anyone, but what Sally said is the general concensus. A few people try to do it anyway even if they'll be far away, but it usually crashes and burns. But A LOT of people (more than any other single school) go to Ohio State here, so there's not so much "mass breaking up" and the #1 school people go to is our local cc (more for financial than they're dumb) so sometimes they work, but most people don't want to start tied down anways, even if they will be in colleges in the same city.

well me and my g/f are already kind of doing the long distance thing b/c i live with my mom in TN now. But it isnt really that bad b/c my dad lives in IN maybe 8 min. from her house and all my college choices are no more than a couple of hours away (cept ou which is like 4 hours away... still not that bad) so with holidays and college visits and stuff ive been around a lot.. plus we are doing spring break 2gether(dreadful to go with ur g/f on sb). I know the chances of us making it once i graduate are less than 2% even if i go purdue depauw(both are less than a hour away from her house) but i really dont know how to tell her that....

College is so busy (and such a new lifestyle) that I seriously doubt you would be able to sustain a relationship from high school (unless it was a complete, infatuated love which is possible but rare)
Explain to her the situation; chances are that you'll grow a little more apart and gradually adapt. That's just the way it turns out the vast majority of the time.

Move on...there are so many new people to meet in college. And if you really love ur current gf/bf then somewhere done the road u would meet again. I know all my prior gf's I haven't seen for a while. :)

umm.... this thread isnt about my particular experience, its more of a tell me if your in the same situation type thing

Well from what I've seen before, never make college decisions based on where your bf/gf is going. Really bad idea. I'm actually refusing (or trying really hard at least) to get into a serious relationship because I don't trust myself with those decisions heh. Sadly, I'm sorta thinking about getting back with my ex... heh... I really don't think I would make the best decisions in that case...

My g/f and I dont speak about it. It's pretty much understood though that we wont last past senior year. I mean if all goes well Ill be going to college 6 hours away and shes going to stay in the city or go to israel for the year... you move on.
