Princeton is my number one school but I am just curious as to what all of you Princeton people think of Northwestern. To me, besides the reputation and the undergrad focus (which I love:)), Northwestern and Princeton seem to have alot in common. Let me know what you all think of Northwestern!

Perhaps the best school in the midwest. The squash program however needs to attain varsity status.

my good friend is going there next year. i spent about 5 weeks living there a few summers ago and i really liked it =P its a nice campus.

but yes it is the best school in the midwest

Shrek, what program did you do? I am applying there for their college credit program. Of course...that is 6 weeks. Were you a Cherub? Do you still love Princeton even more? Would you have been perfectly happy attending NW? Do you believe that the two schools are simular? Thanks!

nah i was there for a policy debate camp 2 years ago. i didnt really research NW in depth but i really liked the campus and it was very princeton-esque but, princeton's campus is more amazing =P.

princeton is also....when i was there i was overwhelmed. it was kinda one of those "wow....this is like a dream-land". NW was more of a, this is nice and pretty and quaint. so, but i also like NYC and philly much more than chicago so, and also other reasons played in =P

but im really not that familiar with northwestern's programs/majors/and what not so hehe but i thot the campus was nice

NW is a great school. It's academically rigorous --> solid prep for anything you'd want to do, awesome debate and sports + good range of other ECs, and it's very pretty : ). One thing that might be a negative aspect (depending on what you're like) is that it's sort of like U of Chic -- its students have a rep for being workaholics and perhaps overly focused on academics.

Well, I live in WI, but used to lived right by NW. U of Chicago and NW have reputations around here for being to completely different schools. NW is a liberal arts school with basic all-around great undergraduate education, while U of Chicago has many TAs for undergrad and work more on the mathematics side of things. Not to mention, the fact that I am in love with Princeton shows that I like to be challenged. It is just hard to imagine myself getting in, for my stats pale in comparison to those who have been addmitted on this board. I will not, however, give up on my dream of Princeton:)

Well, I think NU is a grand school, with many notable programs. But it does have its fair share of problems, like not good financial aid, poor advising in the non-engineering, non-journalism schools. I really like their school spirit though, which comes along with being in the big ten. If I got into both schools, I would choose princeton because I think its better in more areas than NU is.

I agree, celbrian, Princeton is, of course, number one! I just would like to ask why you believe it has poor advising...I mean I thought it had a reputation for its liberal arts. Thanks:-)

Oh know, I mean I think it's fantastic in the liberal arts, but they don't have a great advising system, it's a really minor detail, but even minor details should be brough up :p
