Is NU anyone's first choice?

If so, why? I love it but...my top choice, Princeton, seems to be a bit better. Basically, in the end, what is it about NU that you love? Would any of you, if given the chance to be addmitted anywhere, choose NU? Also, fun facts about the school are cool too:--)

I love the fact that it's near a diverse enviroment(chicago) and the acedemics of course are stellar.I really want to apply for the fall of 2006 but I have to take my SATS and stuff.

NU is my D's first choice, ahead of Ivies. She's a singer and a theatre geek, and NU is the rare top-level university that offers world-class performing arts programs. It's also a suburban setting a half-hour ride from one of the country's great cultural centers.

thanks! I have lived near Chicago my whole life...that is why it is so tempting for me to go out east. I mean I don't want to be in the midwest my whole life. I just love NU so much, that I am going to apply anyways.

i just came back from preview nu and i felt like nu and princeton are a little similar. princeton was my #1 school, and i even applied early, but oh well..:( but nu is really nice too, and i'm soooooo torn between nu and cornell.

Congrats Misty! Those are both really good schools! Have you visited Cornell? What was it like? Yea, reading about NU and Princeton has made them seem to be alot alike...but in what ways, after visiting the campuses, did you find them to be so? Were the students alot alike? I am having trouble envisioning getting into Princeton but I figure I better just work hard and have high hopes. :)

i did visit cornell. cornell was nice too, but much much bigger than princeton or nu. not only is the campus bigger, but the buildings are bigger too, and they're more spread apart.

but the homey feel of the neighborhood and cute enclosed campus made me feel like princeton and nu were alike. this is over-generalization, but from what i've experienced, i think the kids are more fun and lively at nu than at princeton. but princeton is very family-like. i mean, when i went there, there were all these people walking around the campus: parents with strollers, people walking the dog, etc. i think the princeton buildings are prettier, but the lake at nu is gorgeous. hope this helps.:)

if you have any more questions, ask away. i might come back and add onto my post later, but i have to go somewhere right now.:p

So, in the end, what about Princeton did you like better? I love Princeton also, but I am just trying to make sure tht it is for more reasons than prestige lol. I love the undergrad focus they have and their alumni giving rate is AMAZING (61%). Also, it is good to explore new places:)

Oh yea...Thankyou!

well, i dont know..hehe i mean, i usually go by the "feeling" i get when i'm on campus. in my personal opinion, princeton is prettier. but the most important part was that i just loved it when i visited. and fyi, i didn't even visit nu before i got accepted. i didnt really know about this school until i actually got accepted.:p

So Misty, you picked NU over Cornell?

no......:( i'm going to cornell...

me too, Misty

you are?!?! oh goody..:) many people turned down nu for cornell...thats kinda sad.. i feel bad for nu..

I feel bad for Cornell. It's in Ithaca.

Nicely said uc_benz!

people who turn down NU for Cornell are....................let's use a radiohead song title---IDIOTEQUE

i personally dont like Cornell that much, i would only attend Cornell if Cornell and Virginia tech were my only 2 picks

NU was my first choice.
