Something I've always been terrible at is coming up with fun things to do. My friends and I usually do only a few things when we hang out: see a movie, or play video games, or get some coffee, or get hammered, or go play airsoft (or any combination thereof).

Since we don't always have access to booze and airsoft is expensive, it usually just becomes those first three things. I never really minded though, but just now my eyes were opened up. Some friends and I are tryin to get together during the Thanksgiving break and we're trying to plan our day. Someone suggested we go... dun dun dun... get some coffee and we figured 'yeah why not.' But then the girl of our group decided to complain that that's all we ever do and that we should do something else (naturally, she herself didn't give any suggestions )

You know i’ve always wondered this. What are some spontaneous and fun things you can do? Here are a few I can think of or have done, so maybe everyone else will have ideas too :D

A few of my friends and I used to get together and bake. Cakes, difficult recipes, etc.

Going on a double date, or setting up for one. Once we had the guys go out to a movie together, and while they were gone we made this huge meal for them and set up the table really nicely. A few weeks later, they bought us coupons to get our nails/toes done and when we came back to their house… They had done the same!

Getting nails/toes done… This list is turning out to be very girly haha

Go to a museum or zoo

Go shopping at the mall

Go to a new city and explore it

Go to the pool or beach

Take a day trip

Look at your town’s website or go to city hall to find out upcoming events in your area

Go to yard sales

At night, my friends and I had this super lame but amazingly fun game. We’d get baked out of our minds, then we would set out on a super long walk. Along the way, we decided that we were the only survivors of an alien take over (yeah, we were that baked) and car headlights were searching for survivors. So any time a car came down the road we were on, we had to RUN as fast as we could and hide so they didn’t see us. It sounds lame, but there is so much excitement and adrenaline rushing in walking/chatting when all the sudden someone yells “CAR” and 5 people bolt in different directions. We got stopped by a cop once, so make sure you don’t have anything on you!

Start a bonfire, roast marshmellows

Go camping/hiking. We live close to a place where there are waterfalls, and we brought canoes and went canoeing in the calm waters. Afterwards we brought up home made sandwiches and climbed to the highest area we could (a LOT of climbing, make sure you wear good shoes) and took pictures and ate them.

Go rock climbing, there are a lot of areas for this

Throw together a quick sports game, volley ball, soccer, basketball, etc

Go to yoga

Build a blanket fort (yes, it’s totally still as fun if you’re high)

Walk the dogs, or just go on a walk. Esp to a park.

Volunteer somewhere

Go to the gym and workout

Browse stumbleupon.com

Go on a bike ride

Get coffee or go out to eat

Find a party, or go clubbing. Not all clubs are 21 only.

Start a picnic

Have a potluck

Do something with animals. Feed ducks, go to petsmart/petco, etc.

Visit an amusement park

^individualized, we should totally hang out, that is everything I do too. Although I’m ****ed that the list is so exhaustive and now I have to think really hard.

Probably my favorite things on that list are 1. cooking something complicated 2. going to museums (in DC there’s soooo many free ones) 3. exploring other cities (even ones I’ve been to) 4. Go camping/hiking/rock climbing 5. go on a bike ride (into the city or around the city is always fun)

Some things not on the list already:

go to a park and smoke some hookah (I recommend Malcolm X Park for this) 2. If it’s too cold do it inside. 3. Trivia nights (lots in DC area) 4. Play a board game 5. Go to a bookstore 6. Go to a lecture/reading 7. Play pool in a bar (I suggest the Black Cat, go early)

@UMCP does Black Cat let people in under 21?

@ISU I know bro. I’m learning the bass, and some friends and I might try and start a band so there’s that. I also used to play a lot of tennis, I should try and pick it up again. Can’t say I enjoy running though, and I don’t like lifting with other people.

I pretty much do a lot of the things mentioned. In addition, is it possible for you to go bowling or mini-golfing - my friends and I get really, really into it and it’s a lot of fun. What about pool? Or going out to dinner - not ajust coffee, but a place like Olive Garden or something that’s conducive to groups. We’ve also done group Sporcling (it’s actually really, really amusing), card games, etc.

It’s possible to go mini-golfing, 'cept I don’t have a car out of my circle of good friends only 1 has a car. I should ask, nay, beg for one for Christmas :P
