I am taking a winter session class starting tomorrow and it is a small class (12 people including the professor). I am a commuter and this is my third semester at this school. I would like to meet more people and establish some relationships.

My question is what is the best way to get friendly with people on the first day of class?

What I do is to listen to what people say, be sharp and bring in constructive/witty ideas to the discussion, whether it be a class one or just talking to people. Turn to the person next to you before class starts and say, “Hey. I’m ____. Whatsup?” A conversation most likely will begin unless that person doesn’t want to talk to anyone. For some reason :/

Be yourself, be confident, but not obnoxiously loud. See if anyone next to you wants to go to a cafe right after or something. Bring more people the next time. It’s a really small class so at one time you guys should have some class excursion after class, haha
