I agree when it’s used to dismiss wisdom and experience. I am a boomer, but I appreciate and occasionally use that phrase as a retort to tired/racist/misogynist/millennial bashing comments. I’ll admit it can be a lazy retort but , especially in the case of millennial bashing, it can make a succinct point.

I am laughing because, a few years ago, this was the universal response to anything I said from one of our kids, who happens to be a daughter! In her case, she thought she was being clever!
