What do you guys think of this (raising GPA via FLVS)?

Okay, yeah this is another FLVS thread by a freaked out student. This is also my first post on CC after lurking on the forums for about half a year and finally signing up two days ago.

Basically, I have a 3.1 UW GPA. I'm a Florida high school student. So basically I messed up in the second half of last year (my sophomore year) and I got 2 C's and one D (which I'll be retaking next year). Those three classes were AP classes. The work wasn't hard at all (although ap bio was challenging), but my work ethic slacked off last year around that time. Hence, why I ended up with a 3.1 UW GPA (3.9 W).

So before college admission season next year I plan on taking FLVS courses all throughout the summer and up till October / January. I'll take at least 5 - 7 AP courses and 5+ regular. I know I can do it if I get over my procrastination issues, but within the past few months I found a new career I want to go into (that's not journalism).

So basically, I calculated that if I get A's in at least 18 more classes I'll get my GPA up to 3.5 UW. I don't know about weighted.

Once again that'll be all on FLVS (5 - 7 AP + 5+ reg / honors). What would you guys think of this? I'm already beyond willing to sacrifice my social life and everything or it.

Over the summer I'm leaning Russian + Arabic and hopefully I'll be fluent in at least Russian (reading / writing) by then. I'm self teaching Russian and using a native speaker on the side for more help. My dad will teach me Arabic.

What do you guys think? Is this really feasible? Also what do you think colleges would think of this? I know UF and FSU have no problem with FLVS, but I don't want to go overboard haha.

Also please don't attack me on the AP Test issue. I'm going to review with the teachers at school, check out books, buy review books and start studying in January for the tests lol. I'm dead serious.

Sorry to state he same question multiple times haha.

P.S. I've already started Russian (3 weeks ago) and I can already read it, but I don't know what anything means though. xD. I can also write the alphabet (can't spell though).

P.P.S. I dont intend on cheating on any of these courses. Also I'm not taking classes like P.E., etc.

Have you taken any classes on FLVS before? I’m taking an honors one and I just hate the site and format of the class so much. All my class has me do is click a bunch of links to read externally. Not sure why it makes me do this because I don’t learn much through it. For an honors class, there’s over 100 assignments which can be very time consuming. Are you planning to do the 5-7 AP and 5 honors/regular just on FLVS, or is that including your classes in school? If on FLVS, I couldn’t really imagine doing that unless you spend 24/7 on the site.

If you want to, then go ahead of course. It’s a great way to boost your GPA. There is also a limit of taking 3 classes at a time on FLVS, by the way.

I would suggest if you want to load up on As, to do One AP and a bunch of electives and a few Honors. Thats because, you can rush through the electives in 2 weeks or less and an Honors in about a month (Due to DBAS) the workload for APs will be big but you are basically given an A if you survive them

@KingAurora: Yeah I’ve taken FLVS classes before, but never really looked into them seriously until now. The last class I took was a math class (Algebra II Honors) and I got a C and left the class having learned virtually nothing and wishing I took it in high school. Math isn’t a great subject for me, I need a teacher to teach me it (but I do love linguistics, English and history). I’m willing to sacrifice my summer to get through as many classes as possible and through the school year as well. Oh yeah and the classes are on top of my school courses.

@Weeknd: Now although I’m not concerned about my GPA for FSU, as recalculated its like a 3.6, but I still think about college and I don’t want elective stripped. Also for internship programs itll look like I just took FLVS for fluff not actual work. And yeah I’m going to rush though the regular / honors classes as fast as possible.
