<p>haha...at my 1st college we had free on-campus printing, free laundry, free cable, free local/long distance phone and no internet traffic limits.</p>
<p>no one ever said a world class education would be cheap :-)</p>

there are schools with free cable TV?! alright now im mad...
[/quote]
If i am correct, all UCs (universities of california) have free cable, here are a few examples.</p>
<p>

Student Housing’s Media Resource Center operates the Student Housing cable network television broadcast. Available in all residence hall rooms for no additional cost, the cable television broadcast includes an assortment of popular local and cable television channels, and four Student Housing Television (SHTV) channels.

UCLA's Housing Website:
How much does cable cost?
Basic and extended cable is free to all on campus housing students.</p>

</p>
<p>uh</p>
<p>1) expensive, everything costs me money. Food/items are extremely overpriced. It surprises me how people buy stuff in Cornell Store other than textbooks. Also I just got locked out and had to pay 5 bucks lol.
2) Not enough tables in dining areas!!!
3) Different teachers grade too differently! (though probably also apply to other schools)
4) Posting median grade on transcript = seriously sucks
5) Limited Internet
6) School doesn't close much,
7) The RAs in dorms seriously suck. Theres always people screaming at night.
8) Require passing SWIM TEST =(</p>

<p>lol Nothing worse than having to walk from Donlon to RPU in the middle of winter in nothing but a towel and flip flops to get the key b/c my roommate locked the door while I was taking a shower.</p>
<p>and you allowed your roommate to live after doing that to you :-)</p>
<p>The problem was we kept doing that to each other. I lived in a suite and with so many roommates going in and out, no one ever knew who was in the shower, in the room, away, or whatever. With our four laptops just sitting in the common room, it was safer to just lock the door each time you left.</p>
<p>The lack of free cable didn't really bother me. There were just too many people to do freshman year to watch much TV (except the Superbowl).</p>
<p>wth? cornell posts median grades on transcripts? that sucks :(</p>
<p>yeah...starting with the Fall 2008 entering class they will be posting median grades on your transcript.</p>
<p>What do you have to pay for, regarding day-to-day stuff?</p>
<p>If you're living on campus...you don't have too many expenses to worry about except CUTV (if you choose to have it) and paying if you are locked out of your room. You'll have a meal plan, so you won't need to worry about paying for food. Obviously you have textbooks and school supplies to purchase...but other than that I can't think of too many day-to-day expenses from the university.</p>
<p>wait, for the roommates do they just give you 1 key to share or something?</p>
<p>no...each roommate has a room key.</p>

<p>Wait...what?</p>
<p>Haha. Poor choice of words?</p>
<p>Sorry, I was doing some expts. in lab and writing on CC at the same time. I meant "too many THINGS to do and PEOPLE to meet." </p>
<p>"Too many people to do"...well that's a whole other aspect of freshman year ;)</p>
<p>hehe...and in Tompkins County....hence Gannett's decision to offer free syphilis and HIV tests for the rest of the semester :-)</p>
<p>i legit laughed at the past few posts. thanks for that :)</p>
<p>Ya the median grades thing does suck. </p>
<p>To ppl reading this who aren't yet here the positives by far outweigh the negatives...so don't worry.</p>
<p>ps. Mr Gnu is creepy yet somehow funny lol</p>
<p>I don't think the internet policy is as bad as it could be:
1) they allow us to download anything we want including using torrents, limewire, etc. I know other schools that cut your internet off the minute that you try to use something like that.
2) they give you 5GB a month, then charge you after that. This is good because the internet is always fast when you need. If they did not charge then a small percentage of people would be using most of the bandwidth (for torrents and the like) and it would be really slow. I know of schools where they don't monitor your usage, but cut the bandwidth to certain sites (try watching youtube videos when it downloads half as fast as it plays).
3) they allow dc++, the in-network, file sharing program. It's free, 10x faster than the internet, and "safe" from the RIAA and other groups.</p>

<p>And guess who are all the people complaining about the 10 GB limit? Yep, the small percentage that wants to hog all of the bandwith.</p>
