What do you learn in spanish 2010?

So I took the placement test and to get into spanish 2020 (only having to take 1 semester of spanish) I needed to get a score of 410 or above............I got a 409. Therefore, I am now taking spanish 2010 next year. I find this as a curse and a blessing. Maybe I will be one of the best in my class since nobody in that class scored higher than me on the placement test. But then again, this means I have to take two semesters of spanish now.

Anyway, what do you learn in the course? Is it hard? Is it just memorizing vocab and grammar rules? Is the curve nice? Any info? Who is the best and easiest teacher?

I got the exact same thing and ended up in SPAN 2010. I didn’t take Spanish in 12th grade and didn’t review before the test. It’s happened to at least one or two other people that I knew of, so it’s more common than you think. I took 4 years of Spanish in high school with my fourth year being an equivalent to the AP course but I was excluded from having to take the exam. I’m guessing you’re at least around the AP level also, meaning you will learn absolutely nothing language-wise the whole semester. The only thing you will learn is probably some of the history of Spain and Latin/South American countries. Some teachers are easier than others, and my teacher (Fernandez) was very enthusiastic, requiring more effort than other teachers, but generally they have to follow the same 2010 guideline. It’s not hard. Homework takes a little time and the curve is downward (a 95 and up is an A), which shows difficulty. As a result of 2010, I’m contemplating not taking Span 2020 because I don’t believe a student at the AP level will learn much in that course either.

Thanks for the feedback! Were the tests like fill in the blank type questions or like multiple choice where you had a paragraph in spanish and then a question? Were the tests just on like vocab and grammar rules?

I’m not too sure if I can say haha, but I’ll tell you that this course will be the least of your worries.

Ok you dont have to tell me exactly what tests are like, but do you learn mainly vocab, etc or is it a lot of critical reading type things?

You do learn vocab for each section/chapter of lessons with their respective themes, but there is relatively little/no critical reading in the course from what I remember.
