You make an awful lot of strong statements for someone who has just visited the school once. You might want to be more careful making such blanket statements when you are so uninformed. I attended the school and have children there now. Trinity is an amazing place with many amazing opportunities. It probably has one of the leading community service programs of any school in the country. Trinity helped build the Learning Corridor in conjunction with the City of Hartford; it is right across the street from Trinity and contains nine schools. Trinity student and professors volunteer at the magnet schools, the Montessori School, the Boys and Girls Club, etc, which are all a part of the Learning Corridor. At Trinity games, marching bands from one of these schools enterntain the crowds at halftime. Trinity has also nine foreign study programs. Trinity students are not all prep school kids (which by the way you find a healthy dose of at any of the Ivies or other NESCAC schools).

Hello. I am currently a junior in highschool and am seriously looking at Trinity College. I am in love with the campus and acedemics, but do have one question. What is Trinity’s involvment with other surrounding schools like, in particular, Yale. Do the two instiutions have mixers, party’s, events ect. with each other, or do some Trinity girls tend to go out on weekends to Yale outting events and parties? I was wondering as my friend who will be a senior this year in highschool is attending there next year, and she was intrested to know. Thank you.

hi prepschoolgirl…please do spellcheck before you apply to Trinity! It may be a perfect fit for you but you need to have correct spelling on your application. I am not sure of the Yale connections; my daughter is a senior at Trin and usually goes to Boston or New York unless she stays on campus…

@nicole1500, thank you for your insight. But the only word spelled incorrectly in my thread is “acedemics” which should be “academics”. Just thought I’d point that out. :)

good luck musiclover24!

Ha, what Trinity do you go to? I’m a Trin grad, and yes, the campus is gorgeous. It looks exactly like the photos. But there’s no denying the neighborhood isn’t great. Have you BEEN to Park ST?!

Hartford is a city that has seen better days. There is a lot of crime in Hartford, but Trinity is not in the worst part of the city (the North End). The neighborhood (eg, the immediate surrounding area on 3 of the 4 sides) are definitely run down, though, with some abandoned homes and barely open bodegas. The neighborhood is run down and there are a lot of low income and minority folks living there.

That being said, the campus itself is very safe, and Trinity offers many safeguards against crime. I think the problem (and why you sometimes see the crime stats you do) is that students think they live in the Trinity Bubble and forget they live in an urban city. Sometimes cars get broken into because people leave expensive purses (OR CASH) in the back, totally visible, and parked on the street.

Ugh, your comments are so disturbing. I hope you have grown up since your visit.
