What do you LIKE/DISLIKE about UW, for CURRENT and PROSPECTIVE students!

Huh. Apparently I was mistaken; that's certainly better than I thought, but I think the overall con I have doesn't change much.

True. The trick I've heard is that you have to make yourself stand out to your advising professor. They really like when you make yourself visible to them -- I guess it's easier to get help when they know you relatively well.

does anyone know how accessible the disability department is? my parents are telling me that western washington university would provide more organizational support (which i have alot of problems with), since they’re a smaller school, but i don’t wanna completely rule out university of washington… any input on this?

Galo, I also have learning disabilities. I talked to my therapist, and he says that UW has an excellent disabilities resource center. The school is large, but I still got the feeling when I visited that it was very supporting overall, and one can definitely create a tight community for themselves.

thats exactly what i needed to hear man, thanks!

hey guys. i hope that my post wouldn’t offend anyone. Like what my username suggests, i want an ivy league. However, i was rejected by the ivies i applied, and now the school in my list leaves only university of washington. the purpose of why i want top rank schools is because i want to compete with people, who are talented, and who are the best of the best. I was rejected by ivies, like what i told you guys. and i think i am going to the University of Washington, Seattle after all. I wonder whether the people at UW are intellectual? I am an international student, and almost all the people from my schools who applied to the school was accepted. with that, i highly doubt the standard of UW. i think i would meet lots of dumb kids there with that kind of admissions standard, and i would be dumb as well. I am sorry for this post, no offence really. Please enlighten me on this. Thank you very much.

University of Washington- Seattle is a well respected school. I wouldn’t say attending there will be like attending an ivy league, ofcourse you will find students who got accepted with low stats. Though students whose been accepted with high stats are is larger.

UW has a mix of everybody, with 30,000 people. Many intellectuals, and some who don’t care that much. There are TONS of smart people at UW, you just need to find those with your interests like any large school.

UW is without a doubt considered a public ivy. I would definitely rank it as one of the top 5 public universities. The campus is definitely one of the prettiest in the nation.

iwantivyleagues: UW is very highly-regarded, and can hold its own with any of the Ivies in terms of quality of education. Just one example, its medical school is one of the best in the country. IMO it doesn’t get the attention it deserves because it’s not in the media centers of the Northeast or California. But if you want a superior education, rest assured that you can get it there.

arekanderina: Pictures do not begin to do it justice. It is stunningly beautiful.

For those concerned about the size of the school: It’s like living in a city. Are you going to be personal buddies with everyone on campus? No. You will building your personal community among the people in your dorm or on Greek Row, and among the students, advisors, and professors that you reach out to in your department.
