All input will be greatly valued:)

Hi, I lived in seattle for 8 years. My parents both worked at UW. My mom a teacher and my dad an administrator. I don't know much about the school itself cause i was kinda young (moved away when i was 14) but I know the city really well.

Seattle is a great place. Number one complaint is the rain in the fall and winter. Other than that is is great. The summers are beautiful. You can be in a big city, but then drive 5 minutes and be in nice neighborhoods or at the UW. The campus is nice from what I remember but I wouldn't take my word for it. Talk to students.

Uvillagge is a great outdoor mall thing right by the campus (an easy walk) with all sorts of great shops, resturaunts and everything. It is a great place. I remeber that when a sports team is good the whole university gets behind them and goes nuts for the Huskies. The games are awesome.

There is a ton to do in seattle. Anything you want really. Skiing and snowboarding are 45 mins to an hour away and ther are more options within 2hours. Pretty much seattle is a city with a ton to do with a really friendly and laid back environment.

The U is pretty huge but if you like that sort of thing go there. Depending on what you want to major in they have some really strong areas (such as nursing) but it is in all a good university.

I have said really all I know. If you want to know more PM me with questions and I'll do my best.

The little I know about UDub is positive. It is definitely huge, but the campus is not overcowded because it is well spaced and quite pleasing to the eye. Academically, it is strong accross the board. The social scene is healthy and there is ample school spirit.

A kid from my high school turned down a track scholarship from Stanford to go to University of Washington, if that says anything.

My D is a senior at UW, having transferred after 3 semesters at Loyola Marymount. She has loved the campus at UW- lots going on right on campus, great food nearby, easy to get to downtown/Safeco Field(Mariners games) on public transportation. She definitely recommends staying in the dorms as a freshman - it's been hard to create a group of friends as a transfer living off campus. She is a psych major and is doing very interesting research for her honors thesis - they had lots of opportunites to choose from. You definitely need to be able to advocate well for yourself at such a big university, but if you try, there are many resources to help you. She is finding all her academic offerings to be top notch. Good luck!

I live in the area and udub is an amazing school. you have access to anything in seattle and the benefits of living in the beautiful pacific northwest. not to mention a great education and a phenominal atmosphere.

incredible psych department, excellent school spirit!

I have a friend that started there least year and she only has great things to say. Its academic reputation is great and the campus is beautiful.

Great, UW it is then for me :)

Thanks, guys!

One last thing. The grrek life there seems to be very strong. I don't think it is overpowering but many students find that joining a greek house gives them a smaller community within the big university. If greek life is for you then UW is also a cool place.
