What do you love about BU?

I’m applying RD to BU and I want to know what you love about it that isn’t already on the website? Like certain classes you took or events you loved?

I just graduated from BU and overall I loved being in the city. BU is located in the heart of Boston and you never run out of things to do. I also love that it was pretty diverse and you never found any two kids that were the same. Almost everyone comes from a different background/state/country and that just adds to culture of the school.

I think I especially loved it because I was in Sargent, the health sciences school. Each school is very different and some are bigger than others. Sargent was small and therefore the classes are pretty small and you get to know people in your department. I can remember the classes that I disliked (hah) but as for the ones I liked there were so many and unless you are also applying to the same major as I was, you most likely will not have them. I didn’t really enjoy any of the pre-reqs they make you take freshman year. I don’t think anyone does. But once you get past those and into classes that actually matter for your major, you enjoy it a lot more.

I agree with hopeful360.

I come from a small city and I liked that BU was far from home (California). Combined with the fact that BU is located in the heart of a bustling city, it forced me to grow in so many ways. There was always something interesting to see like new restaurants or even a friendly bum talking it up with some students. The classes were interesting and as long as you are willing to put in the effort to meet people and be independent, you are going to far exceed any expectations you have.

As for events, I love the Boston Marathon! It’s arguably my favorite day. It runs right through BU’s “campus” and students gets the day off. It’s so much fun to watch the dedicated runners and walk around the Spring air.

Oh, and do go to a hockey game before your 4 years are up (it will sneak up on you fast) if you do end up attending BU.

So many things. I love the friendships I’ve made and the opportunities I have been given-whether it’s studying abroad in Australia or being in the largest student-run advertising agency in the nation. I love the sense of community despite the large school-how you still see tons of people you know on the street everyday.

I love BU hockey and the friends it has given me, the clubs I have joined and the shenanigans that come with living in Boston, one of the nation’s best college towns.

And the Red Sox just won the World Series directly next to our campus.

hopeful360, if you don’t mind me asking what did you apply for? I’m also applying ED to Sargent

^I started off as Human Physiology in SAR but switched to Health Science. Sargent is great!!

The acronym of Boston University says it all. BU is a place to really just… be you. It is a place where I have made connections that wouldn’t have been offered to me if I went to any other school. It is a school located in the best college town in the world. It is a school where I could really find myself, whoever that may be. I’m proud to be a part of this school because it possesses an amazing campus and atmosphere. I’m proud to be a part of this city because it is one of the most welcoming in the world <3
