The counselors at my school suck and tried to get me to drop AP Chem

I haven’t met her yet but she seems nice. I’ll probably have to get to know her well for future reccomendations. :)

Pretty hot. I’d hit it

Counselor and I getting work done on Calculus.

My guidance counselor is pretty sucky. She doesn’t take her job seriously and doesn’t know her stuff. She also has no experience with kids who have ambitions larger than state colleges.

My guidance counselor always forgets who I am. I’ve met with her at least 5 times this year and each time she looks at my schedule, sees that I’m taking AP Spanish and says ‘Oh, you know Spanish?’ I’m asian, so I guess it’s shocking that I’m taking the class. She is Hispanic and also has a really strong accent. At graduation, all the guidance counselors take turns announcing the graduates’ names. She was mispronouncing all the names and when she got up the second time to say names, you could hear the parents groan.

That spineless little gnome who always resists me changing my schedule? I don’t think very highly of him. He will NOT bend the rules in any way, even though I hear of other guidance counselors doing it constantly. Also, I turned in everything for my college apps like Nov. 15th and none of the colleges have my transcripts or recs from him yet? I honestly can’t help but wonder how our school’s guidance department doesn’t have a single person who knows their college app stuff. I’ve heard countless horror stories about the college app process and our guidance department.

Ahahahahahahahaha.
Ahh. Your situation is unfortunate. I hope my pos guidance counselor doesn’t try and pull that **** next year. The whole transcript thing.

She is nice enough. Not overly concerned but generous enough to let me take the classes I want. Though, she didn’t trust me freshman year.

well, i am about 99% sure my guidance counselor is physically attracted to me
i honestly cant blame her though, when you are this good looking it almost makes thing too easy

My guidance counselor is an old lady who just wants a pay check. My college counselor, on the other hand, is absolutely amazing. He is extremely knowledgeable of schools outside of state schools, and he even helped my best friend apply to college in the UK and Lithuania. What a cool dude.

This thread is pretty old, but I’m posting anyway.

My school is run by nitwits, so I’ve had 3 different counselors so far. I hated each and every one of them. They all refuse to change anyone’s schedule at the slightest and most justifiable requests. Ask about college and they redirect you to Google. GOOGLE! Like seriously?? I’m just one among a hilariously overpopulated high school, so I’m not exactly priority for the school. Hah.

My GC is cool. He’s more laid back than the other counselors and actually tries to help you and offer you opportunities. His personality is also okay and he makes jokes, which I appreciate in my school filled with serious, dull teachers. I had a bunch of questions about my classes for sophomore year and he answered them through email ten minutes after I sent the message (and this was a weekend). The only thing I have to complain about is the fact that he’s not very informed and the reason I had so many questions about my impending schedule was because he let me sign up for a semester of a course that should have been yearly; he wasn’t aware until I asked and he looked into it. But to be fair, he was just hired and was new to the school.

He thinks I’m really smart so I’m not going to complain. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to entice him into giving me the period of the TA class that I want in junior and senior year so here’s hoping.

My counselor in 9th and 10th grade was a complete moron. Literally. He never had a clue what he was talking about. One time I asked for a copy of transcript and he had to go ask the secretary what a transcript was. I went to pay for my AP tests on another occasion and he didn’t understand what the money was for. He fell asleep while proctoring AP tests so that was yet another fiasco. He was fired after my junior year since he was such a bozo.

My counselor in 11th and 12th grade was fantastic. She wasn’t knowledgeable about elite colleges or out of state colleges but she did her best in those sitatuons. She always got me transcripts in a timely manner when I asked, she was extremely helpful when I was trying to have an independent study course and when I wanted to take AP tests not typically offered at my school. And she wrote a stellar letter of recommendation for me. I was able to win an extremely competitive/selective scholarship worth 21k at my state flagship because her rec was so great. She was definitely great at her job, even though I typically had to look elsewhere for guidance for college selection.

My guidance counselor is really nice and informed. She’s very helpful and definitely seems to care about her students. My school of 1700 has 12 guidance counselors so none of them are too overwhelmed.

My guidance counselor is a really nice lady who is very informed about the college admissions process, but I think she’s always trying to put me down or something. She’s always telling me that next years schedule is too tough for me, that my weighted gpa sucks, and that I won’t be able to afford college. She’s still great though, and I have College Confidential, which is the best “counselor” ever

my counselor prefers that we call her CC, and she has so much information! but she keeps asking me to chance other kids and worry about 790s with the other asian kids, sounds awfully similar to something…

I LOVE my counselor and she absolutely adores me! We could be speaking about everything for hours. She is one who literally cares about me and is truly a friend to me. I don’t how she does it while trying to help out about a couple hundred other students, but I am truly thankful.
