I speant my whole childhood overweight and finally 2 years ago I lost 50 pounds and have since kept it off. I was wondering if this would be a good essay topic for a college acceptance essay? Wasn't actually planning on doing it but I want to know out of curiosity. I was thinking that it could talk about motivation and sticking to something and things like that. All of those things I would think are skills a college would want in a student, so what do you think?

That can be a good topic, depends on how much of a challenge or struggle it was for you, but if you are truly honest about it it can turn out to be a great essay!

If written well, it could be a great essay. As long as it’s written in your voice then you’re okay.

Apparently someone also thought of a similar topic: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1060106-commonapp-feedback.html

After I posted this I googled it and found that it has def been done a few times lol

It’s def been a challenge due to the fact that I come from a large family that loves to eat and that my friends are all really thin and eat whatever they want whenever, so in other words I’m surrounded by food. But, I think it could also show that I’m able to take charge of my life and all.

Don’t know if I will end up using it but now I know it’s there to use if I want.

Like any topic, it can be good if written well (as I see someone has already said). Your voice is important, though. The best advice I got on essay writing was to write an essay that only you could have written. Show what you thought while you were going through this, how you grew from it. How will this continue to influence your life?
