Hey, I'm just wondering what you think my chances are at the top schools (Ivy Leagues) as well as other schools such as Williams, Tufts, Middlebury, and the like. Here's the info:

Male from New York
GPA: 5.0/5.4 (many of my classes are curved, and I compete w/ kids who get 2400's and the like, like 10 kids > 2350)
Grades: All A's and A+ except in AP Psycholgy, AP Physics B, Math 11H, and French 10H, and those have B+.
AP Grades: 5 Physics B and US History, 4 Euro.
SAT I: 760 Math, 750 Verbal, 660 Writing
ACT: 33
SAT II: 760 Physics, 740 Math IC, 720 History
EC's: Swimming (have been doing for 12 years). Made Empire State Games for my Region (imagine state olympics) in the Open age group. Made NYS High School states.
I also Sing, made all county chorus and vocal jazz, as well as all state vocal jazz.
I am also editor of a 400 page color yearbook, this is a 2 year assignment (junior and senior year).

My writing is pretty good. And if I spend more then 20 minutes on it, I can write a very strong essay.

These are my basic stats. Just knowing this information, what do ya think? How do you think I'd stack up at the top schools in the world?

There's your answer for the Ivies. Why take you when there are 20 kids with better stats? Probably better chances at the LACs.

The reason is because they are the classic "study and do ABSOLUTLY nothing else," whereas I have athletics, music, other clubs leadership positions. All they have is grades.

Get recruited for swimming and you're in.

I doubt it. Kids at that level know the score and what it takes to get admitted.

skier, I think you're in the ballpark for your ivies and Williams. I'm sure you know by now that no one is a guaranteed admit. Middlebury and Tufts chances are good high matches. Maybe you could add a medium reach as well. In spite of everything your have going for you, you still need a safety/sure bet. Don't overlook this.

If you're in the financial position to do so (i.e., don't need to compare financial aid packages) an early application would make sense. Being recruited for swimming would also impact your chances greatly.

It's unclear how the colleges will view the writing portion of the new SATI. Make sure that one of your teacher recommenders mentions your writing ability.

I'd put together a separate arts package for your musical activity, including a resume, list of accomplishments, awards, classes plus a letter of recommendation from an instructor or sponsor. If the college encourages musical supplements, prepare one. This EC talent will be of particular interest to Williams.
