NYU and wake look to be easy targets, as far as Univ. of Chicago, UNC, and Northwestern I think those are all duable but keep working hard. The ACT score is impressive and GPA is solid so you should be fine. Just write some good essays. Good luck!

Your class rigor and test scores are very good. I think you’re good for Wake Forest and you will probably have a good shot at NYU. UNC, UChicago, and Northwestern are all reaches. Brown is definitely a reach.

Just judging the ones I’m familiar with :)

Trusty: Thank you Trusty I think my essays were impressive, so I’m hoping that helped me a little bit.

Hey: Thank you :)

Your international status makes it a bit harder but with the high SATs/ACTs for the schools you’re looking at there shouldn’t be many issues. I have no idea for the UK schools, but for the US ones I would say:

Elon: In
Wake Forest: In
UNC Chapel Hill: In
NYU: In
University of Chicago: 50%-60% in
Northwestern: 60%-70% in
Brown: 30%-40% in (just because of being international)

Reasonable chances.
Class rank is average, but you have a good shot at all of the universities.

Soccer: I am not an international student. Perhaps I phrased my original post incorrectly. I live in the United States, I have for 10 years, and I am a permenant resident (which means I essentially register to colleges as an American citizen, but I can’t always get ALL of the perks that citizens do.) But I thank you for your chancing :)

They only care about your test scores (AP and SAT)

Thank you 104. I appreciate the insight :)

Elon University-match
Wake Forest University-match-low reach (depends on your short answer questions, they weight that a lot!)
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill-match (if you’re in state, if not good luck with that)
New York University-match
The University of Chicago-low reach
Northwestern University-low reach
Brown University (I’m pretty sure I won’t get in here, but it was worth a try). low reach

I have no clue in terms of international colleges. Nevertheless, your application is stellar and you shouldn’t have many rejections. Best of luck to you! Thanks for chancing me!

Thanks Tabby. I am in state for Chapel Hill, thank god :)

104: I got accepted conditionally to York and I am really excited. Thanks for the insight again :D

thanks for chancing me back! i would say Brown is a low reach, your GPA was good during your freshmen year…but then it suddenly dropped. however, apply and gratz on getting accepted to york.

Thank you Jayson :)

i dont know much about them. i think your chances are okay.

first of all about UK I dont know how they would treat American students as in Non-O/A level students but one thing I have learned about the whole UK admission process is that they dont give a damn about your EC’s… all they care about are your academics and thats it… and I dont know much about the American education system but if you have straight A’s and stuff like there are in O and A levels… then you should get into all of the universities you have applied to
I had straight O and A level grades and I got into UCL, Edinburgh, Southampton and Sheffield ( 8500 pound scholarship) and got rejected from Oxford after an interview :)

ok now to the US

I think your test scores seem fine and your EC’s are good too … but the whole admission process is so damn fickle that you never know whats gonna happen… so here’s my 2 cents

Hopeless, Speedy, and Florida: Thank you. I appreciate it :)

You can’t assume anything about Northwestern and Chicago.

Last year, my son (with about the same stats as you, test-wise) and some interesting extra-curriculars (senior year abroad with Rotary exchange), excellent essays, recommendations, grades, lot of AP and Honors, etc. was wait listed (and ultimately rejected) at U of Chicago (probably, then, his top choice…) and was FLAT OUT REJECTED at Northwestern, in spite of being a pretty strong candidate AND having numerous family members who are graduates (including me, his parent).

So - don’t make any assumptions. He thought his chances were best at U of Chicago, but apps there have been way up the last couple years. Others said because of the family history at NU (mom, aunt, cousin, uncle…) he was more likely to get in there - I was never so sure. On the other hand, we live quite close to Chicago so he was definitely NOT “geographically” interesting to either school.

For various ‘genuine’ reasons, and then being gone his senior year, he never had a chance to make a “formal” visit to NU. It is my feeling that this was a deciding factor - so my advice is, always visit if you can. On the other hand, it’s a big country and travel is expensive. I think it is presumptuous of these schools to assume kids aren’t serious just because “getting there” isn’t always possible.

Ultimately, my son is at a TOP liberal arts school (which I think was secretly his favorite all along - and, yes, he had the opportunity to visit there before applying). He loves it and the education and small class sizes are amazing. I never could quite picture him at Northwestern - but would have appreciated the opportunity for HIM to have decided that upon acceptance. Maybe Admissions people really can tell who is a good fit? Yes, it ****ed me off. No, I will not be a “contributing alumnus” (alumni, alumnae? never can get that right!) for the forseeable future… at least not until I am done payng tuition at the equally prestigious college which chose to ACCEPT him!

Wherever you end up you will do well!! Good luck.

^ great post. Just out of curiosity, which colleges was your son accepted to, and which one did he choose to attend?

He didn’t put in that many applications, he was accepted at UW-Madison, Tulane (with a generous merit scholarship). Waitlisted at U of Chicago, Rejected at NU. Attends Grinnell College (Iowa).
