I am a high school senior and I just got my schedule:

AP English Lit. & Comp.
Honors Gov./Honors Econ.
AP Psychology
Honors Pre-Calculus
Sociology/Womens Studies (electives; no honors offered for either)
Honors Physics

I had the option of taking 5 APs but who wants to do that in their senior year? I know I don't. I have pretty good grades, but I am not looking to go to an Ivy League school. Is my schedule rigorous enough for state schools such as the University of Connecticut, Penn State, or UMASS?

I live in Florida, have good test scores and spent (more like endured) 3 years in a private, Catholic school.

It seems like a pretty good schedule. And your high school offers women’s studies? I’d like to have something like that at my school. I’d take it. Hope you learn a lot!

Thanks! I go to a public school now and it does offer womens studies!! I originally wanted African American History and Philosophy as my electives, but my GC couldn’t fit either of them into my schedule, unfortunately. But women’s studies should be pretty interesting!

Nice! I’m sure you will be fine. I’m taking two APs as well (Lit an Gov), and I completely agree with you. Five APs? Way too many to handle! Two show rigor and the fact that you’ll be able to balance with extracurriculars, and quality college applications and essays. Have you taken any other APs? Schools will definitely look to see what courses you’ve taken since Freshman year. Enjoy your senior year! The classes are rigorous enough so don’t worry. Good luck
