What do you think?

Hello members, sorry if I am posting this in the wrong area considering the fact that I am new. I would like to know your opinions on my achievements and everything that comes along with a high school experience. Since the 6th grade I've been dreaming of going to UCI for many reasons. And yes I've been to their campus during a field trip there once.

I am an active member in the following clubs/associations...
French Club
Interact Club (community service based)
Multi-Cultural Club
National Honor Society....Character Committee 2011-2012 (NHS)

I plan on getting elected into the vice presidency of NHS and the French Club and join remaining clubs.

My achievements....
I received an academic award for Biology and A.P. U.S. History (10th & 11th)
I have done lots of community service
I have received 4.0s + since the second semester of Freshmen year
I will be taking one more year of French
I was a Junior Honor Escort this year for the 2012 senior Graduation (top 35 out of entire class of 2013)
I've been invited to the exclusive Academic Luncheons (3.8 & up Gpa students)
My rank is either 25 or 26 out 584 students (top 4% maybe?)
****I might be ELC or not for UC.

My worries...
My "D" in careers might heavily affect my chances and the few "B's" that I have.
I did poorly during the first semester of my freshmen year
That this is miniscule compared to other outstanding students
That I might not be challenging myself enough

This is my Senior schedule for next year....

A.P. French IV
A.P. English Lit/Comp.
A.P US Gov./ A.P. Macroeconomics
Physics
Pre-Calculus
Art I

If I get all A's for senior year (4.5) then my overall gpa will be a 4.1

Currently I finished off with a cummulative GPA of 3.9722
for GPA type University I have a 4.07
and a 4.2 GPA type for State College

I've been studying for the SAT and will take it on october & for sports I will try to join one and yes I have taken the PSAT twice.

So what do you guys think? Do I have a shot at UCI or not or any other great university. I will be the first in my family to go to college so yeah.

That D won’t hurt you I don’t think, but it does look bad. This is kind of like a “chance me” thread, but it’s fine. You seem very steady and you’ve improved greatly. I think you have a strong chance for UCI. Your GPA, EC’s are strong. I think UCI SAT standards are between 1500 - 1800 I believe. Good luck senior year.

About the D for Careers, I couldn’t make it up during the summer because they chose to get rid of it. So I was told that they won’t look at it because it isn’t aligned with the UC courses and is only a high school elective class but it still irritates me knowing that it is there on my transcript.
