Please see if I have even a slightest chance of making it to UC Irvine! And if you know any other good schools with good business programs, let me know!!

Thank you so much!

Also, how are my chances for:

UC Berkley
UCLA
City University of New York: Baruch College
Purdue University

Thank you again!

I accidentally closed the tab so now I have to start over with what I typed…(>_>) Erghh.

Okay, so here’s the gist for what I typed for Irvine: Considering your rank, you might have an 100% chance of getting into Irvine despite your SAT scores. Irvine seems to prefer SATs, by the way. Or maybe everyone who applies to Irvine sends SAT scores. Either way…I dunno, actually.

Maybe you can look up tips on the SAT forums?

By the way, if you want to be a business major, you should take the Math Level 2 Subject Test and get an 800, no lower.

Grades, rank, course rigor all seem good.

ECs…average, I guess. The best thing you have is that accounting internship.

UC Berkeley: High reach, considering your SAT scores. Same for UCLA. You’d have to write a pretty damn awesome personal statement if you get in.

CUNYBaruch: You might have a slightly higher chance of getting into this than UC Berkeley. Not much higher though. It’s still a high reach.

Purdue: Possible match.

I’m pretty sure that Santa Clara U has a pretty good business program, by the way. Your chances? I dunno. Probably lower than Irvine, maybe actually higher.

Kagami… that was probably the worst reply I’ve seen in my entire short time spent on this site. Could you possibly be any more vague and indecisive?

“Your chances? I dunno. Probably lower than Irvine, maybe actually higher.”
“You might have a 100% chance.” ???
GREAT help…

KaiLun… your grades and rigor look good. A 3.9 UW GPA with all those AP classes comes out to around a 4.2 in terms of UC GPA, so you’re sitting well above the average in that respect. Your SATs, however, are fairly weak, though not horrible. It puts you around the middle, but I would recommend a 3rd try or maybe a run at an ACT to try to score a little higher. As for subject tests, you DO NOT need a perfect 800 to get into business. Break 700, preferably 750, and you’ll have a great shot.

Well, I more or less am aiming at something such as accounting. But I’m not that much of a math genius (as can be seem in those SAT scores!) But i DO enjoy working with money numbers, just not so much what high school teaches: trig, geometry…etc. :stuck_out_tongue: So I’m 100% certain I would do pretty terribly on the Math 2.

Is it possible I can get into accounting/finance major without taking that Math 2?

YES! UCs no longer require or recommend subject tests anyways, so there’s no need to send in any if you don’t want to.

balling916,

so…can a good act score can “make up” in a way, a bad/mediocre sat score?
and d u happen to know if good ap test scores have any weight on admissions decision?

Well, you can chose to only send in one: SAT or ACT. Up to you. UCs typically prefer SATs and a majority of applicants send in SATs as opposed to ACTs, but if you do significantly better on an ACT just send it in and don’t bother with an SAT.

As for APs, I’m not 100% sure on how highly UCs weight them in the admissions process, but some high scores sure as hell won’t hurt the cause! :)
